بامداد روز پنجم دی‌ماه ۱۳۸۲، زلزله‌ای ویرانگر ظرف ۱۲ ثانیه شهر بم را تقریباً با خاک یکسان کرد. بر اثر این زمین‌لرزه، بین ۳۰ تا ۴۰ هزار تن جان خود را از دست دادند، ۳۰ هزار تن دیگر مجروح شدند و ۸۵ درصد شهر تخریب شد؛
بلافاصله بعد از پخش خبر این تراژدی، هدیه تهرانی همراهِ‌ تیم امداد و نجات صلیب سرخ با هواپیمای امدادی فورا از تهران راهی بم شد تا در عملیات امدادرسانی شرکت کند.

کسانی که آن روز شاهد این ماجرا بودند تعریف می‌کنند به‌محض رسیدن آستین بالا زد و رفت در دل خرابه‌های بم روزها ماند و کار کرد…
حضور او به‌وقتِ مصائب، نه نخستین‌ بار بود نه آخِرین بار...
کمک و تشریک مساعی هنگام سختی‌ها، باور قلب بزرگ و دل دریای او است.

و من به این فکر می‌کنم که چقدر وجود همیشه موثرش، مبارک است

On the early morning of December 26, 2003, a devastating earthquake reduced the city of Bam in Iran to rubble in just 12 seconds. As a result of this earthquake, between 30,000 to 40,000 people lost their lives, 30,000 others were injured, and 85 percent of the city was destroyed.

Immediately after the news of this tragedy broke, Hedieh Tehrani, along with the Red Cross rescue team, quickly flew from Tehran to Bam on a relief plane to participate in the rescue operations.

Those who witnessed the event that day recount that upon her arrival, she rolled up her sleeves and plunged into the ruins of Bam, staying and working there for days. Her presence during times of crisis was neither the first nor the last. Helping and collaborating during difficult times is a testament to her big heart and generous spirit.

Today is her birthday. She is one of the strongest and most influential people I know. I am incredibly honored to know such a remarkable woman.

It was an absolute honor to meet you again, Mrs. Berit Anderson. You are a true inspiration to all women and a remarkable role model.

I am overjoyed to have had the opportunity to see one of my role models another time.

In the first photo, I’m trying to maintain my composure and not show too much excitement, but in the second one, I couldn’t contain my joy and laughed so hard that you can see the veins on my forehead.

Nowruz – No-Ruz or in persian “new day” – is celebrating the first day of spring.

Nowruz marks the end of an old year and the beginning of a new one and is celebrated on the day of the astronomical vernal equinox, which usually takes place on March 21.

The celebrations last for 13 days, and it’s an opportunity to reflect on the past and set intentions for the future.

بسیاری از تبعیدیانی که به میل خود از رژیم های خودکامه گریخته اند ،نمی توانند خود را از نوعی احساس شرمساری رهاکنند. اینان در موقعیت فعلی دیگردر معرض انواع مهلکه ها و محرومیت ها نیستند ،حال آنکه این سهمیه ی روزانه ی دوستانشان یا سرتاسرکشوری است که احساس تعلق به آن دارند.بنابراین نوعی سردرگمی یا ابهام در این موقعیت گریز ناپذیرمی شود وترسیم خطی قاطع که تبعید خودخواسته ی توجیه پذیر را از توجیه ناپذیر جدا کند میسر نیست. ما به آسانی می توانیم دید که اگر اینشتاین یا توماس مان در آلمان هیتلری مانده بودند یا شاگال ویتبسکِ تحت
سلطه ی اتحاد شوروی را ترک نگفته بود هیچ چیز حاصل نمی شد. از سوی دیگر ،بسیارکسان در اتحاد شوروی یا لهستان مانده اند و هرچند حاکمان کشور خوش داشتند ایشان را به خاک بیگانه روانه کنند ، سرسختانه درجای خود ماندند و زندان و آزار و مسکنت را برگزیدند. کیست که بگوید این کار خطا بوده است؟سولژنیتسین و بوکوفسکی را ناچارشدند دست بسته، با تیپا از کشور بیرون کنند و بدین سان اینان به همان راه مصیبت باری افتادند که کم وبیش دویست روشنفکر سرشناس روس کمی بعد از انقلاب به حکم حاکمان شوروی طی کرده بودند.بسیاری از رهبران جنبش همبستگی حاضرنشدند که به قیمت مهاجرت از وطن آزاد شوند .برخی از ایشان باردیگر به زندان افتادند و بقیه هم احتمالا به زودی به اینان می پیوندند. میلان کوندرا چکوسلواکی را ترک کرد و چسلاو میلوش از لهستان برون رفت و هردو این تجربه را دستمایه ای کردند تا آثاری گرانقدر درادبیات مدرن پدید آرند. واسلاو هاول درمیهن خود مانده است ،هربرت نیز همچنین ،و ما بسیارچیزها را وامدار این گونه آدمهاییم. دکتر فاستوس و رمان های نابوکوف ثمر مهاجرت هستند ،همچنان که نوشته های کوندرا ،یونسکو وکویستلر .اما نوشتن کتابی چون مجمع الجزایر گولاگ از هیچ تبعیدی ساخته نبود.ما هیچ معیار جهان شمولی نداریم تا بگوییم در چه وضعیتی تبعید خود خواسته ،اگر اصولا میسر باشد،بر ماندن در وطن ترجیح دارد

“In her home, unchanged since her children were present, meaningful items surrounded us. A small table in her bedroom, known as the “prison table,” held precious prison memorabilia. She shared a box filled with origami cranes, a gift from inmates at Evin Prison. These cranes, collected during her moments of fresh air, symbolized her love for life. Excitedly, she presented each gift, explaining its origin and significance, highlighting the unique bond among women in the prison. Each item, a testament to resilience and shared experiences, held a special place in her heart.”

Nobel Peace Talks: Meet Reihane Taravati, the photographer behind the official portraits of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi.
How is it to work as a photographer in Iran, one of the worst countries for press freedom in the world? Is photographing activists also a form of activism? And how can you continue to tell stories about your home country from exile?
The Nobel Peace Prize Exhibition, where Taravati’s portrait of Narges Mohammadi is showing, will also be open until 19:00.
In April 2022, the Iranian photographer and activist, photographed Narges Mohammadi in her home, and one of the photos became the official Nobel Peace Prize portrait and part of the Nobel Peace Prize exhibition 2023. ReihaneTaravatihas been sentenced to six years in prison for women’s rights activism in Iran.
