Örstaristningen is the biggest Bronze Age rock carving in the area. It was a popular spot 1,000 to 1,800 years ago, shown by the oldest road in Northern Europe leading to it.

Since there are no written records, people guess it was a religious site.

The carving shows two horses, a four-wheeled cart (or suns), and two boats. It's thought to be a religious parade.

The site is near a wetland lake nature reserve, popular with birdwatchers. Be careful when visiting; guidebooks don't mention the large amount of goose droppings around the area.

I finally moved from Stockholm to Täby, almost to the center of the Rune Kingdom, and now I will post more often.

One of the 9 locations of the famous tourist route "Rune Kingdom" is Täby Church. Two parts of the rune stone U 133 are built into the foundation of Täby Church.

The inscription: "Guðlaug had the stones raised in memory of Holmi, her son, and in memory of herself. He died in Lombardy."

Inscription: "…-bjǫrn and Brandr had the stone raised in memory of Karlungr, their father; and Ketilbjǫrn in memory of (his) brother. Œpir carved the runes."
