Most of my pictures are of birds, especially from Sweden but also from other parts of Europe, North America and Asia.

En lång och rolig fjärilssäsong är till ända – med eldsnabbvingen (Thecla betulae) som sista art en sval sommarkväll i Stockholm.
Under hösten kommer jag att publicera årets bilder av svenska fjärilar – från Svedala i söder till Östersund i norr. 🦋📷

A long and fun butterfly season has come to an end – with the Brown Hairstreak (Thecla betulae) as the final sighting on a cool summer evening in Stockholm.

Calidris maritima | Skärsnäppa
Under julhelgerna gjorde jag ett par utflykter till Landsort i Stockholms skärgård där det fanns, och fortfarande finns, en chans att fotografera skärsnäppor på ön. Oftast håller de till på skär flera hundra meter ut i Östersjön, men i början av januari hade jag turen att få se tre stycken i ett fantastiskt vinterläge. Först i strålande sol och sedan i ett mjukt skuggat ljus en söndag.

Calidris maritima | Purple Sandpiper
Over the Christmas holidays, I made a couple of trips to Landsort in the Stockholm archipelago, where there was—and still is—a chance to photograph Purple Sandpipers on the island. They are usually found on rocks several hundred meters out in the Baltic Sea, but in early January, I was lucky to spot three in a stunning winter setting. First in brilliant sunshine and later in soft, diffused light on a Sunday.

Merritt Island, Brevard, FL, USA - December 2022

A couple of months ago I visited a couple of friends in Miami, but I couldn't resist bringing the camera on a little road trip to Orlando, Merritt Island and St Petersburg. I ended up having 6 days in the field and I met up with my friend Craig Brelsford and his family. I last met Craig and his fiancee Elaine traveling China in 2013, it was great to see them again.
Finally I enjoyed a couple of days on my own at Fort DeSoto State Park on the gulf coast. The result is a a travel album consisting of 70+ images, not bad for a half-hearted effort on a combined holiday trip.

A couple of weeks ago, I joined my good friend Tomas Lundquist photographing butterflies. It really opened up a new world to me. Just being able to casually stroll around, take your time, work on compositions, explore new species, it's been so cool. Such a nice contrast to birds who require a lot more planning, effort and bulkier gear. Here are some images from my first couple of weeks shooting butterflies.
