Here's the unofficial leak for the Vivo. x400 number is skipped unlike Honor that just accept it as a number.
The main thing is the Vivo’s BlueImage Light Control 900 (also translated as Blueprint Light Control 900 or LightGuard 900), a cutting-edge 50-megapixel camera sensor technology.
Seems like it is a customised Sony LYTIA mobile sensor that has 17-stop dynamic range using Sony's Triple Conversion Gain High Dynamic Range (TCG-HDR) so that the smartphone don't need to take multiple exposure shots and combine them just using a single exposure.
So instead of using three images, the sensor just read the light intensity data (conversion gain) at three different gain levels in that one single shot to prevent ISO noise in the shadows.
- High Conversion Gain (HGC): Amplifies the signal significantly to pull crisp, clean detail out of deep shadows without generating heavy digital noise.
- Mid Conversion Gain (MCG): Perfectly balances mid-tones for natural skin tones and ambient environments.
- Low Conversion Gain (LCG): Restrains the bright areas of the image, protecting intense light sources (like streetlights or the sun) from blowing out into pure white.
TCG works with LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) that promises to retain details in the highlights by allowing the sensor to spill extra light data or excess electrical charge into a LOFIC capacitor so images will not be overblown.
Sounds like more advanced than big cameras or similar way of pulling details from RAW files but done it automatically at the hardware level which is more accurate than software/AI manipulation.
