Here's the unofficial leak for the Vivo. x400 number is skipped unlike Honor that just accept it as a number.

The main thing is the Vivo’s BlueImage Light Control 900 (also translated as Blueprint Light Control 900 or LightGuard 900), a cutting-edge 50-megapixel camera sensor technology.

Seems like it is a customised Sony LYTIA mobile sensor that has 17-stop dynamic range using Sony's Triple Conversion Gain High Dynamic Range (TCG-HDR) so that the smartphone don't need to take multiple exposure shots and combine them just using a single exposure.

So instead of using three images, the sensor just read the light intensity data (conversion gain) at three different gain levels in that one single shot to prevent ISO noise in the shadows.

- High Conversion Gain (HGC): Amplifies the signal significantly to pull crisp, clean detail out of deep shadows without generating heavy digital noise.

- Mid Conversion Gain (MCG): Perfectly balances mid-tones for natural skin tones and ambient environments.

- Low Conversion Gain (LCG): Restrains the bright areas of the image, protecting intense light sources (like streetlights or the sun) from blowing out into pure white.

TCG works with LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) that promises to retain details in the highlights by allowing the sensor to spill extra light data or excess electrical charge into a LOFIC capacitor so images will not be overblown.

Sounds like more advanced than big cameras or similar way of pulling details from RAW files but done it automatically at the hardware level which is more accurate than software/AI manipulation.

My Fosi Moment

My current desktop audio setup started quite simply: an NAD D 3020 driving my Italian Chario Hiper 2 speakers from my PC.

Then I discovered the headphones were not getting quite what they needed, so the Fosi Audio ZH3 joined the setup to drive my Audio-Technica ATH-R70xa.

Then came the MC331.

Tube warmth, VU meters and, let's be honest, that orange glow were too tempting. The MC331 has now replaced the NAD and is driving the Chario Hiper 2 very nicely.

The combination works particularly well in my study room. The Chario speakers have enough presence for the space without overwhelming it, while the MC331 adds a bit of warmth and character.

So the current setup is pretty straightforward:

**Fosi MC331 → Chario Hiper 2**
**Fosi ZH3 → Audio-Technica ATH-R70xa**

The only thing missing now is a streamer, because apparently switching on the PC just to play music is now too much work.

I actually do not mind a smartphone refresh, especially when we are about a quarter away from the next new generation, as long as there are some meaningful improvements, whether in software or hardware. Of course, it would be even better if we could see improvements in both.

A refresh like the Vivo X300 FE can be considered a good example. But manufacturers should also ask whether a refreshed model, such as the Oppo Find X9s, can justify commanding a similar price to what the original X9 asked for.

Justifying a refresh can be difficult when the improvements are relatively small, but it becomes even harder to make a case for it when the specification sheet does not clearly match up to the original model. For me, this is where Oppo sometimes seems to miss an opportunity at an important moment.

If a refresh is necessary, I feel it should bring enough improvements to make the upgrade worthwhile and easy for consumers to understand. Otherwise, it may make more sense to continue selling the original model with attractive discounts on older sets. That would probably be a clearer proposition for consumers and avoid creating unnecessary confusion.

Perhaps I am being a little critical here, but I do feel it is a shame when a company does not build upon the successes of its earlier products with a little more care. A good refresh should feel like a thoughtful evolution rather than simply another model added to the lineup.

That said, the photos are good but can be inconsistent, which is not what I felt when testing the Vivo X300 Fans Edition that at least 1. Allow the use of the Zoom attachment (improvement) and 2. maintained the quality from the older flagships (consistent).

While competent, the Oppo Find X9s is hard to recommend because it shaves off some features and doesn't come with a cheaper price tag.

Bario is one of those places that feels a world away from the usual tourist trail. Tucked away in the Kelabit Highlands of Sarawak, the small community is surrounded by mountains, forests and vast stretches of green, with a way of life that remains closely connected to the land.

I visited Bario during Pesta Nukenen, an annual community-led celebration of Kelabit food, culture and traditions. From traditional dishes and local produce to music, crafts and gatherings, the festival offers a glimpse into a culture that is proudly kept alive by its people.

What makes Pesta Nukenen special is that it is not simply a festival put together for visitors. It is a celebration by the community, for the community, with visitors welcomed to experience it along the way. My visit was as much about meeting the people and understanding their way of life as it was about photographing the colourful celebrations.

Bario may be remote, but it is a place that leaves a lasting impression — not just for its landscapes, but for the warmth of its people and the strong sense of community that defines life in the highlands.

National Day fireworks tip: head to Kallang Basin for the best view

If you’re planning to catch the National Day fireworks on the next few Saturdays, keep this in mind: the fireworks are only happening at Kallang Basin this year.

So instead of chasing multiple locations, focus your plans around the Kallang area for the clearest and easiest viewing experience.

For Circle Line riders, Stadium MRT and Nicoll Highway MRT are the best stations to use.

For Thomson-East Coast Line riders, Tanjong Rhu MRT is a great option for reaching the waterfront and promenade areas near the basin.

Best viewing spots include Stadium Riverside Walk, The Lawn at Kallang, and Tanjong Rhu Promenade.

Go early, travel light, and choose a spot with an open view of the sky so you can enjoy the fireworks without the stress.

Show Dates: Remaining shows occur on weekends leading up to the main event: Preview 1 (July 25), Preview 2 (August 1), and the Actual Parade (August 9).

Timing: First shot. Around 7.45pm. Main fireworks around 8.15pm.
