Stories about Bentley's race history have long captured our imagination. To be able to view an actual works team car up close is clearly nothing short of fascinating.
This is Bentley 3 Litre YF 2503, built specifically for the 1927 24 Hours of Le Mans, where it was driven by George Duller and Baron André d’Erlanger.
And its race, was anything but ordinary.
During the 24 Hours, YF 2503 was caught up in the infamous White House Crash, suffering severe damage before coming to rest almost on top of another Bentley 4½ Litre.
Remarkably, the car was repaired and returned to the race.
While Sammy Davis and Dudley Benjafield ultimately brought another Bentley to victory, YF 2503 also secured its own place in Le Mans history.
Decades of racing, ownership and preservation followed. The car then underwent approximately 20 years of research and restoration, finally returning to the road in 2019.
Since then, YF 2503 has appeared at some of the world’s most prestigious automotive events, including the Le Mans centenary celebrations and Pebble Beach, where it was awarded Best in Class.
Most remarkably, YF 2503 is the sole surviving Bentley from the 1927 Le Mans entry.
