On Saturday 30th May 2026, TASOS President Soh KM, Vice President Dr Raymond Quek, TASOS Committee Albert Lim, Hon Secretary Wei Rong and member Edison Tong set up several telescopes with Solar Filters to support Science Centre for Solar Appreciation Workshop from 2pm till 5.30pm.. The sky was generally cloudy and so although we entertained many groups of participants throughout the afternoon, there was not much Sun to observe. We end up showing past Solar photos on TV screen and gave small talks throughout about how the images were acquired etc. There was some moments n between when lucky groups chanced upon cloud clearings to actually view the Sun. We setup a Seestars S50 and did acquire quite a number of images showing Sunspots to share with participants. Photos of this event posted here to share with all, hope you all like it 👍🙏🏻

On Saturday 23rd of May 2026, TASOS supported “Astronomy Experience” activity at Woodlands Ring Primary School. We brought along 8 telescope to bring Astronomy to large group of students, parents and the community at large. The sky was barely partially clear bit we were saved by a quarter Moon overhead which provided all out telescopes with a target. Overall the event was a success and we dod inspire and educate a whole new generation of new and older stargazers. The crowds were amazed with a home assembled giant bjnocular scope Albert Tan built with a pair of Celestron C8s, TASOS new member Howard Gao brought Long his 10 inch Dobsonian, Joseph Beh brought his Takahashi FSQ106ED which undoubtedly produced the sharpest lunar views and besides my 80mm refractor I also had a Seestars S50 which provided nice images of the Moon on the phone for moments when clouds interrupted the viewing. TASOS President also got to take a photo with Member of Parliament Mariam Jaafar. See photos of theis event posted here. Hope you all like them 👍🙏🏻

Sharing my latest image of M51 taken from my home in Torrelodones, Madrid, Spain using the Celestron Origin. The seeing is much better now that the weather is warmer at 18-19C (It wasn’t as good during winter). I am looking forward to more clear nights like this in the coming months. Exposure details are in the image for reference.” I post below his image of M51 Whirlpool Galaxy to share with everyone. I hope you all like it.. 👍👍
