Photography has quietly changed me.

When I first started, zoom lenses gave me a sense of security.

I could stand in one spot and frame anything I wanted. Wide, tight, somewhere in between—it felt safe because I always had options.

As the years passed, something unexpected happened.

Instead of asking, “What focal length do I need?” I started asking, “Where do I need to stand?”

That small shift changed the way I see.

Prime lenses forced me to move my feet, observe more carefully, anticipate moments, and become part of the scene rather than simply watching it from a distance.

Ironically, having fewer choices made me more creative.

Today, I find myself reaching for prime lenses almost every time.

Not because they’re sharper or faster, but because they make photography feel more intentional. Every focal length has its own personality, and over time I’ve learned to see the world through those perspectives before I even lift the camera.

I’ve also noticed something else.

As I grow as a photographer, I no longer choose gear because it impresses others.

I choose gear that inspires me to go out and create.

A camera that feels good in my hands.
A lens with character rather than perfect charts.
Equipment that disappears so I can focus on the story unfolding in front of me.

Perhaps that’s one of the biggest lessons photography has taught me.

In the beginning, we often chase specifications.

Eventually, we chase experiences.

And somewhere along the way, we realise that the best camera isn’t necessarily the newest or the most expensive—it’s the one that makes you excited to walk out the door and create.

This collection isn’t about owning gear.

It’s a reflection of how my journey has evolved—from chasing versatility to embracing simplicity, from seeking perfection to appreciating character, and from collecting equipment to collecting moments.

A prime lens doesn’t make someone a better photographer.

But it often encourages habits that do.

You begin to recognise compositions before raising the camera. You learn how different focal lengths “see.” Eventually, a 35mm or an 85mm becomes second nature—you instinctively know what the frame will look like.

For me, that’s where the real joy lies.

As photographers mature, many don’t necessarily buy more gear. They buy less, but they choose it with greater intention.

It’s no longer about having every focal length.

It’s about carrying the few that truly speak your visual language.

And perhaps that’s what this photo represents for me—not the destination of my photography journey, but a reminder that sometimes, less gear leads to more vision.
