Still Here, From Here is a farewell exhibition marking the closure of Hopsfield Art Project, an artist-run space that has provided a place for ideas and encounters to take shape.
Bringing together works by Raymond Yap, Ezzam Rahman, Oscar Ng, Tang Ling Nah and Arron Teo, the exhibition reflects on what happens when spaces, images, materials and memories shift from one state of existence to another.
Raymond’s paintings invite their own gradual removal, while Oscar considers the departure of an artist from a physical space through a site-responsive work on the gallery wall. Ling Nah revisits a work originally made in 2007, bringing it into the present through drawing and storytelling performance. Ezzam works with everyday materials and objects, reclaiming their original functions while shifting them into new contexts. Arron's analogue prints reconstruct an imagined wet market through the uncertain passage between AI-generated images and photographic material.
As Hopsfield closes as a physical space, Still Here, From Here is less an ending than a moment of transition, a gathering of works, traces and gestures before they move elsewhere. What remains is not necessarily the same as what was here, but something that continues, shifts and takes another form.
