After more than 10 years, finally joined the Canon PhotoMarathon again, and somehow got 1st place 🥳
This was my 4th competition in the last 3 to 4 years, and also my 3rd time getting first 😂💪🏽
Had just flown back from volunteer work in Taiwan the night before, didn’t even have time to properly read the instructions. I was getting ready to fully charge my two phones for the competition, only to realize that only big cameras were allowed 😂
Had to do last minute replan and pack two lenses instead, then survive on just 6 hours of sleep. There were also plenty of firsts and scares along the way, since I couldn’t get the photos to transfer to my new phone. It was also my first time doing editing and adjustments in camera since the first time I joined, and the file size kept going beyond 10 MB because I’ve been out of practice with those features. (1st camera was only entry level, D90 @ 12 megapixel and now my cam is on the highest end range @ 45 mp). Also, the newest Android version does not always mean the most stable. Lucky I brought my laptop out to upload, saved from a heart attack 🫠
Theme 1: Vibrant
Took a photo along south Bridge road, with a photo showing the "vibrant" Singapore. with our Indian and Chinese temple all along 1 street (there's a Muslim temple too, not in pic). Also with our award winning Pinnacle@Duxton HDB, with every race staying in harmony and balance.
Theme 2: Value (winning)
The cost of the meal doesn't determine the final value from the companionship.
Theme 3: Voice
This statue gives voice to those who served, endured, and aged with dignity. Echoing the memories of time. The auntie who just came out (in red) most probably lived through those times.
Came alone, went back with new friends to learn from. Been working too hard and neglecting photo competitions for about a decade. Am glad I decided to join this one 🙏🏽☺️
Massive thanks to Canon Singapore for putting together Canon PhotoMarathon and creating such a fun, challenging platform for us to shoot and learn together.
Big shout-out as well to Leofoto and Exascend for the amazing support and prizes – really appreciate brands that invest in the photography community.
Also grateful to all the partners and crew behind “Your Canon Event” for making the whole experience so vibrant and welcoming.
