JustIn: TBA Commences Debate Training in Aweil, Northern Bahr El Ghazal State

AWEIL, 19th FEBRUARY 2026, The Teachers Without Borders Association (TBA) has successfully and massively started with the training of debaters, public speakers, and poets today at Light House Primary School in Aweil, Northern Bahr El Ghazal State.

The transformative event, brought together learners from primary and secondary schools across Aweil, and it's aiming at equipping learners with knowledge and skills on the world school debate championship ahead of the South Sudan Debaters contest and National Debate championship 2026

The event will be a two-day training starting from today and concludes tomorrow with debate trials among teams from various schools, showcasing their debate prowess. It commences at 8 o'clock and ends at 1 o'clock PM, South Sudan local time.

Muok Youth Union Congratulates Gen. Akech Tong Aleu on New Appointment

Thursday, 22nd January 2025, Juba, South Sudan—The Muok Youth Union has extended its warmest congratulations to Gen. Akech Tong Aleu following his new appointment as the new Undersecretary in the Ministry of Defense and Veterans Affairs.

Teachers Training launching' to start next week in Tonj Town

Tuesday, January 20th 2026—the principal for Teachers Training Institute (TTI), Tonj South county Justine Lual Mador has confirmed to the media the Commencement and launching of teachers training that will expectedly take place next week at Tonj Technical campus/premises. The program organised by the National Ministry of Education in partnership with the World Bank, aims to equip teachers with skills that will improve education in the county and state as a whole.

Speaking to the media, Mador stated more importantly that the teachers needed for the training are the South Sudan Secondary School certificate holders.
"The main people we need in the training are teachers with senior four certificates and they are free to be registered for the teachers training." he said

He added that the teachers training is divided into two groups, a group to be awarded with the certificates for the period of two years and Diploma group for three years program. Ustaz Lual appended that the requirements needed are the forms to be filled for free, senior four certificate, birth certificate, national ID card, passport photos and recommendation documents from the school.

Tr. Justine shared with the media, the TTI is offering a free training program which will last either three or two years depending on the course for training after meeting the specified requirements.

The training is limited to 200 teachers with 150 spots filled, the remaining 50 spots are available for those who haven't submitted their applications yet, and they are being urged to hurry up for this brief time.

In his last remarks, the TTI principal Lual urged unemplo teachers to join the training program as possible, emphasizing the training is free and will equip them with skills to improve learning.

The initiative marks the improvement on education aligns with objectives to strengthen the teaching profession and learning outcomes in South Sudan.

HANDOVER AND THANKSGIVING CEREMONY AT ST. PETER CATHEDRAL, ECSS

The former Provost of St. Peter Cathedral, Rev. John Akot Akot, has handed over leadership to Rev. Peter Aleu Kook, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the church.

The handover ceremony took place on Sunday, January 4th, 2025, at the St. Peter Cathedral church in Tonj Town, ECSS. Rev. John Akot Akot, who served as Provost, expressed his support for the new Provost, Rev. Peter Aleu Kook, and wished him God's blessings in his new role.

Rev. Akot Akot praised the community's love and commitment to the church, highlighting his dedication to serving God and the worshipers during his tenure. The transition showcases a smooth leadership handover, reflecting the church's values. He added that when your era is over as a leader, you should not fight back the new leader or terminate your membership of the church.

Thursday, 1st January 2025, in a heart full with a spirit display of faith, the ECSS St. Peter Cathedral Diocesan Bishop Peter Yuol Gur celebrated the New Year with faithfuls in Tonj Town. The celebration of the new year, which brought faithfuls/congregation together, emphasized on prayer, thanksgiving, and unity.

In His preaching, Bishop Peter shared his thanksgiving messages to Almighty God, focusing on hope, peace, and reflection ahead of the 2026's new chapters.
Bishop Yuol Gur urged faithfuls to walk in God's path, emphasizing peace and unity among the people of Tonj.

The reading of today was taken from the book of Matthew 25:14-30 which teaches Christians to use their talents gifted to them by God when assigned to a duty. A faith without actions is dead.
