Photo Concept is a creative photography community bringing photographers together to experiment, collaborate, learn from each other, and see familiar places in completely new ways.

We create pop-up photography challenges, creative events and experiences designed to push your creativity and get you shooting. 📸

One theme. One location. One model. 20 minutes to shoot. 20 minutes to edit. Everything happening live while the audience is watching! 🤩

Because put different photographers in the same place with the same brief, and you’ll get completely different perspectives, stories and images.

What a day it was! Our Photo Concept “Beyond Siam” pre-exhibition challenge is in the books! 4 photographers, one fantastic model Sarunjade Prasertsuwan, one historic location, and just 15 minutes to shoot, 15 to edit, and four completely different stories.

📸 GET READY FOR BEYOND SIAM and here are SOME TIPS FROM T. at CINNAMON STUDIO

Our challenge is almost here, and our proud sponsor Cinnamon Studio is sharing a few professional tips to help our photographers make the most of So Heng Tai Mansion.

💡 Look for reflections around the pool if the weather allows, or use the beautiful Chinese architecture and colours to connect your image with the Beyond Siam theme.

💡 Take your time with your model. Focus on the movement, body tension and poses - you only have 15 minutes to shoot, so make every frame count.

💡 Think about your light. If you’re experienced with flash, consider using backlighting to separate your subject from the environment. If artificial light isn’t your thing, stick to what you know.

💡 And when it comes to editing? There are no rules. Your style is your style, although a slightly desaturated look could work beautifully with this location.

Then comes the real challenge: 15 minutes to shoot + 15 minutes to edit.

The winning photograph will be printed and added to Pavel Khon’s Pavel V. Khon exhibition at PhotoHostel & Cafe later that day.

And everyone is welcome to watch, photograph, exchange ideas and get inspired. 📸

📸 MEET OUR FIFTH PHOTOGRAPHER - JULIA NOVIKVA Julia Novikova | Lifestyle photographer or Julia

Our fifth and only female photographer in this challenge and we’re very happy to have Julia joining us!

For Julia, photography is a way to freeze time and hold onto inspiration. Her journey started in Siberia with old-school Canons and a film Zenit, creating creative shoots and later spending several years working as a wedding photographer’s assistant.

These days, you’ll still often find her with a camera in hand, looking for those moments and details worth keeping.

Now we’re curious to see what she’ll find at So Heng Tai Mansion when given just 15 minutes to interpret BEYOND SIAM. 📸

📸 MEET OUR FOURTH PHOTOGRAPHER - Masashi Hashimoto Masashi Hashimoto

Our fourth photographer has been calling Bangkok home for almost eight years, and he has a pretty special way of seeing the city.

His photography has been published in a magazine, where he takes readers beyond the usual tourist spots and invites them to discover Thailand through his lens from easily accessible locations to the hidden, more atmospheric corners of Thailand.

We love his curiosity for finding something new in places he’s visited many times, simply by taking one more step. And the pictures of the night sky are breathtaking.

Now we’re excited to see how he interprets „BEYOND SIAM”.

You might remember Vladimir Vladimir Zubankov from our last Photo Concept event with Tuk Me | Bangkok tuk-tuk tours. He joined us as a spectator, had a great time, captured some awesome shots… and apparently decided he wanted in on the action this time! 😄

We’re super happy to have him joining the challenge. His black & white photography and incredible attention to detail really caught our eye.

Photography is Vladimir’s hobby, and you’ll often find him out on photo walks with Bangkok’s photography communities, exploring the city one frame at a time.

And now we’re curious to see what he creates for Beyond Siam…

📸 MEET GERARDO SIMONETTO - Gerardo Simonetto

We’ve known Gerardo since the very beginning of Photo Concept, so we are particularly happy to have him joining us for our next challenge.

Based in Bangkok, Gerardo is a photographer and videographer who documents artistic events, live performances and happenings around the city. His work is all about capturing what is happening in front of him, the movement, the people, the atmosphere and those little moments that can easily disappear.
And now we’re putting him in a slightly different situation…

We’ve known Gerardo since the very beginning of Photo Concept, so we are particularly happy to have him joining us for our next challenge.

📸 THE PHOTO CONCEPT CHALLENGE
Next Saturday we’re bringing together five photographers and one very special model 🥋 a Thai-Chinese Shaolin Kung Fu Master - for a pop-up photography challenge in the heart of Talat Noi.
Our location? The incredible So Heng Tai Mansion, one of Bangkok’s beautiful historic spaces.

This time, the challenge is happening just before the exhibition curated by Pavel Khon aka Pavel V. Khon, taking place at PhotoHostel later that same day.
And there are ALMOST no rules.

Each photographer gets 15 minutes to shoot and then after all of them capture their moments they will have 15 minutes to edit their chosen photograph live at PhotoHostel.

The brief is simply:
BEYOND SIAM.

The winning photograph will be printed and added to the exhibition, becoming the final piece to fill that empty frame.

You don’t have to be a photographer to be part of it.

👀 Spectators are welcome! Come watch the photographers work, take your own photos, exchange ideas and see how five people can look at exactly the same model and location and create five completely different stories.

The first 15 spectators enter FREE. After that, the venue charges a 50 THB entrance fee, which goes towards helping preserve this beautiful historic building.

So come curious. Come with your camera, your phone, your ideas or simply come to watch.
