I know many of my followers are in Thailand, but most of them are in Myanmar.

Recently, the Myanmar military has been killing and executing citizens in the street during the unrest following a military coup that has not gone well. As a historian, I can tell you this look a lot like some parallels from the 1960s.

A few days ago, soldiers broke into a family's home demanding to meet everyone inside. Once all of the members of the family were together, they executed a seven year old girl. A week ago, they shot a pregnant woman in the head in her doorway. yesterday, 89 people were murdered. 25% or them were headshots. No regime that kills its own children and shoots its citizens in the head in the street should have a right to continue as a legitimate form of government.

To my friends in Myanmar, please stay safe and healthy.
To everyone else that follows me or is my friend, please consider that there are ways to help. Supporting NGOs that actively petition world governments to help, petitioning your representatives to take action, just.. so many things you can do to help. Do something.

The people of Myanmar have endured devastating natural disasters and decades of military rule and ethnic conflict. The International Rescue Committee provides vital, long-standing support.
