I had another long layover in Seoul again and took the opportunity to head out and explore the city on my own accord.

From all the countries I’ve traveled, I think this might take the cake for me. I ended up taking the wrong bus, even though the line number and direction matched, and ended up being about an hour outside of Seoul 😅. Thankfully, a local helped guide me in the right direction and I was able to get off on the right stop.

While in Seoul, I was able to do some shopping and eat a lot of popular street food and restaurants at Myeongdong Night Market, which is an area I highly recommend for food lovers

Roi Et Tower resembles a traditional musical instrument called the wot. The wot is a traditional bamboo panpipe that is said to mimic the sounds of the wind breezing through the paddies over the rice fields. The tower is 101 floors which coincides with the provinces name “Roi Et” which translates to one hundred and one.

Phu Langkha National Park, at the border of Nakhon Phanom and Beung Khan, has a cave that many locals believe to site of a Naga cave entrance. Many rock formations seem to resemble the body, head, and scales of a snake. It was definitely a beautiful site to see with the rock formations and lush dense forest.

That Phanom in Nakhon Phanom, Laos is the twin pagoda of That Ing Hang in Savannakhet, Laos. Both are considered highly revered Buddha stupas located along the Mekong River.

The reason why both stupas are so revered as That Phanom is believed to hold the breast bone while That Ing Hung is believed to hold the spine of Buddha himself. Both stupas are considered homage sites for many devote Buddhists in the area.
