The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams.

We all have a dream. A dream that we spend days, months, even years thinking about and wishing was a reality. This dream, if fulfilled, could mean a major life transition that brings us greater purpose and happiness. Whatever dream is close to your heart – writing a book, moving to a new city or state, having children, leaving that soul-sucking corporate job to become an entrepreneur – it’s surely possible.

All great things start in our imagination. However, once we imagine something, we may not act on it because of fear, self-doubt and life circumstances, preventing us from living to our potential. In spite of our mental blocks or other obstacles, we have the capacity to commit to our dream, to exercise our often-underutilized power of choice. The choice to take control of our lives and go after what we most want. It will take some life adjustments, belief in ourselves and steady focus on fulfilling the dream.

If difficulties arise such as time limitations, illness, or obligations, making small steps, even if it takes a long time is key to our success. Above all, be kind to yourself when you fall off track because it takes a lot of courage and hard work to realize a dream.

How often do you stop to take in the natural world?

We get used to our routine surroundings — the office, our cars, our homes. Deliberately leaving those spaces and moving to natural surroundings for a while, unplugged, could seriously improve your health.

The phrase “forest bathing” recently spent some time in the spotlight, and deservedly so. When done correctly, forest bathing, or spending time in nature, can provide an important boost to your mind and body.

So what is forest bathing? First, go to a nature preserve. Leave your cell phone locked in your car. Then, let go of the thoughts in your head and focus on the present; the way the tree bark feels, the way the dirt smells, the sounds of birds singing and wind rustling leaves. Take a relaxed, meandering walk that gives you time to breathe and break from the pace of everyday life.

It turns out a nature walk can actually improve your physical health, besides giving you a mental rest.

You don’t have to make these walks a workout. Serious physical exertion isn’t necessary, and actually could take your focus off your surroundings.
