FOUR DAYS THREE NIGHTS MOUNT MERU CLIMBING
Day 1: Moshi to Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut Elevation 1,500m → 2,514m | Hike 4-5 hours | Meals Lunch, Dinner 07:00 AM
Pickup in Moshi. 1-hour drive to Momella Gate. Registration + an armed ranger joins the group. - Hike through rainforest. Spot buffalo, giraffes, and colobus monkeys. - Lunch en route. - Arrive at Miriakamba Hut in the evening. View of Arusha City. - Overnight: Mountain hut. Dinner + briefing.
Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut Elevation 2,514m → 3,570m | Hike 3-4 hours | Meals Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner - Morning hike through heath and moorland zones. - Arrive at *Saddle Hut by 1:00 PM. This is the base camp. Optional 1.5-hour hike to Little Meru (3,820m) for acclimatization. - Great views of the "Meru Crater" and Ash Cone. - Overnight: Saddle Hut. Early dinner + rest. Early sleep.
Day 3: Summit Day - Saddle Hut to Socialist Peak to Miriakamba Hut Elevation 3,570m → 4,566m → 2,514m | *Hike: 10-12 hours | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner - 01:30 AM: Begin the ascent using headlamps. It is cold, and the ascent is steep - 06:30 AM: Reach Socialist Peak (4,566m) for sunrise. View Mount Kilimanjaro and the Rift Valley - Take photos + have a snack - Descend to the Saddle for breakfast, then continue down to *Miriakamba Hut- Overnight: Miriakamba Hut. Celebration + dinner
Day 4: Miriakamba Hut to Momella Gate to Moshi Elevation 2,514m → 1,500m | Hike 2-3 hours | Meals Breakfast, Lunch - Morning descent at a leisurely pace through various forest zones - You may spot plenty of wildlife in the morning - Arrive at *Momella Gate*. Receive certificate + transfer back to Moshi - Arrive in Moshi between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM
