Pregnancy can feel like such a long season while you’re living through it. And then, somehow, your baby is here, and those months of carrying them become a blur.
That’s why I love maternity photography. Not because you need a perfect version of pregnancy, but because one day you’ll want to remember what it was like to have your baby this close, before you ever met them.
My maternity sessions are simple, natural and timeless. No complicated styling, no forced poses. Just you, your body, your connection and this little person you’re waiting to meet.

This summer was surprisingly calm, yet full of life.
I held only two workshops throughout the whole summer, spent a lot of time with my children, and for the first time in eight years, I brought maternity photography back to my studio. I tested a new flash light, got few photography awards, visited the smallest city in the world, met new people who somehow became good friends, stayed connected with old friends who are now far away, celebrated my son’s 17!!! birthday and tried to breathe while reading the news from Ukraine, my homeland…
This slow, quiet rhythm was probably my kind of meditation.
And now autumn is coming. It seems to be bringing some changes into my life that I definitely wasn’t planning for at the beginning of the year.
So maybe this summer was just a little island of rest before something new.
I hope autumn will be good to me 🍂

Today I want to tell you the story behind this little bracelet you can see in the last photo. At the end of Alice’s newborn session, her parents asked me to take one special photo. While mum was holding Alice, dad brought this beautiful bracelet, handmade by a craftsman in their home country, Turkey. It was made especially for Alice’s tiny hand, and we put it on her at the very end of the session. I can already imagine her looking at this photograph several decades from now and seeing not just a tiny hand and a beautiful bracelet, but how deeply her parents loved her, how long they waited for her, and how carefully they chose something special just for her. This is exactly why I love photographing these little details. They become part of your family’s story. So if you have something special for your baby, a piece of jewellery, a family heirloom, a handmade gift, something brought from your home country, please bring it to your session. These are the details that can make a photograph mean so much more years later.

Trend or story?

Honestly, I don’t even remember what year the Moon poser appeared in my studio. Back then, Ukrainian makers had started creating these beautiful handmade prop, and I simply wanted to have one. I had no idea that years later, this would become one of the most requested setups in my classical newborn photography.

For me, this image is about the magic of birth itself. A new little person, arriving into the world, so tiny and yet already carrying an entire story. The Moon adds that little fairytale feeling, turning a simple newborn portrait into something more symbolic, something they might still connect with years from now when they look at these photographs.

This is what I love about classical newborn photography. It is not only about capturing a baby as they are in that moment. It is about creating an idea and giving each image its own meaning. And even when I use the same setup, the result is never quite the same, because every baby brings something different to the story.

This is one of the most common problems I see in photographers who are just starting with newborn photography: they learn a pose, take one or two pictures, and then immediately move the baby into another pose.

But you don’t always need another pose. You need to know how to work with the one you already have.

This basic tummy pose is one of my starting points in newborn photography. From one setup, I can create many different images by:

• repositioning the hands and head
• changing the baby’s body position
• changing my own angle and perspective
• watching the baby’s expressions and movements
• adapting the setup instead of constantly starting over

That’s how one simple newborn pose can become an entire gallery.

Knowing the steps is one thing. Knowing how to see the baby, feel the moment and make these changes safely and naturally is something photographers learn with me in person.

This is what I teach in my newborn photography training: not just a collection of newborn posing techniques, but how to work with the baby in front of you and create more from every setup.

These first days are so fleeting. Believe me, I know what I’m saying as a mum of three.
Today your baby is tiny enough to fit into this little dress, sleeping peacefully, and somehow a few weeks later everything already feels different. And I wish my daughter has such photos.
This is a classic newborn session from my Family collection, with simple styling, soft details and all those little things you will want to remember. No need to make it complicated. Just your baby, exactly as you remember them in those first days.
So don’t overthink and make a present to your child you will cherish forever!
