Help a Kyiv Family Rebuild After Two Russian Missile Attacks
After surviving two Russian missile attacks in less than three weeks, a family from Kyiv is struggling to rebuild their home, replace their only car, and care for their two young children.

One Family. Three Tragedies. One Hope.
Before the Missile Attacks
Before our home was damaged and our car was destroyed, my family had already faced one life-changing tragedy.
On May 5, 2024, during the Easter holiday, my wife was struck by a minibus while crossing the street at a pedestrian crossing in Kyiv.
She suffered a severe traumatic brain injury, spent eight days in intensive care, more than six weeks in the hospital, and underwent several emergency surgeries.
Although she survived, she now lives with a permanent Group II disability. She has a 12 × 12 cm titanium cranial implant and continues to require ongoing medical care and rehabilitation.
From that day on, I became not only a husband and father but also my wife's primary caregiver while continuing to work as a professional photographer to support our family.
Despite everything we had already been through, we never asked anyone for financial help.
We believed that as long as we stayed together, we could overcome any challenge.
The First Missile Attack
On June 15, 2026, a Russian missile attack struck near our apartment building in Kyiv.
The blast wave shattered every window in our apartment.
Glass covered our children's bedrooms, furniture, toys, and floors.
Thankfully, none of us was seriously injured, but our home was badly damaged.
Like many Ukrainian families, we cleaned up the broken glass ourselves, temporarily covered the destroyed windows, and began repairing our apartment with the resources we had.
We believed the worst was behind us.
The Second Missile Attack
Less than three weeks later, on July 6, 2026, another Russian missile attack struck our neighborhood.
Our family's only car was parked inside our garage when the attack caused a fire.
Within minutes, it was completely destroyed.
For many people, losing a car is a financial setback.
For our family, it meant losing something we depended on every single day.
Because of my wife's permanent disability, our car was essential for medical appointments, rehabilitation, taking our children to school and kindergarten, grocery shopping, and simply managing everyday life while living under the constant threat of missile attacks.
Our Children
Our son is 7 years old and will soon begin second grade.
Our daughter is 6 years old and is excited to start first grade after finishing kindergarten.
Like every child, they should be thinking about school, friends, birthdays, and family adventures.
Instead, they have learned to recognize the sound of air raid sirens and live with the fear that another missile attack could happen at any moment.
As parents, we do everything we can to help them feel safe, even when we cannot promise that tomorrow will be peaceful.
