اليوم بزيارة وافتتحا مصنع الهواتف ومصنع تجميع فولكس فاجن الجديد في رواندا ، وهو أول حل متكامل للتنقل في إفريقيا ، ويقع في المنطقة الاقتصادية الخاصة. وسيشتمل المرفق على منفذ بيع بالتجزئة للخدمات والمبيعات ، وتجميع المركبات ، ومركز التدريب ، وشركة التنقل التي ستضطلع بأول خدمة لمشاركة السيارات على الإطلاق في رواندا.
أشار الرئيس كاغامي إلى أن ماركة سيارات فولكس فاجن كانت من بين السيارات الأولى التي تم استخدامها في رواندا ، واستشهد بالحدث باعتباره التاريخ يعيد نفسه ، لكي تبدأ فولكس فاجن في تجميع السيارات في رواندا.
"وجد البعض صعوبة في تصديق إمكانية تصنيع السيارات الألمانية في رواندا حقًا. ومع ذلك ، فإن المركبات الأولى تتدحرج اليوم من خط التجميع. يمثل هذا المرفق بلا شك فصلًا جديدًا في رحلة التحول الاقتصادي في رواندا. هناك أيضا آثار إيجابية على أفريقيا بشكل عام. لا تستطيع العلامات التجارية العالمية تجميع منتجات عالية الجودة في إفريقيا فحسب ، بل يمكنها أيضًا العثور على عملاء هنا. لا تكتفي إفريقيا بوضع نفسها كمركز جديد منخفض التكلفة لتصنيع السلع للتصدير. سيكون المستهلكون الأفارقة أيضًا من بين أكبر المساهمين في نمو الطلب العالمي في السنوات المقبلة.
وأشار الرئيس كاغامي إلى أنه كان أكثر فعالية من حيث التكلفة بالنسبة للروانديين والأفارقة بشكل عام أن يوجهوا اهتمامهم إلى شراء منتجات جديدة بدلاً من المنتجات المستعملة ، لأن إفريقيا تستحق الأفضل.
"أفريقيا لا تحتاج لأن تكون مكب نفايات للسيارات المستعملة ، أو أي شيء مستعمل. على المدى الطويل ، ينتهي بك الأمر بدفع سعر أعلى على أي حال. إذا كان بإمكانك دفع ثمن باهظ مقابل شراء اليد المستعملة ، فلماذا لا تدفع ثمناً باهظاً لشيء جديد؟ إنه اختيار بسيط. الأفارقة والروانديون ، نحن نستحق الأفضل. هذه طريقة واحدة لإظهار كيف يمكننا تحمل تكاليفها. لهذه الأسباب وغيرها ، فإن هذه الشراكة الواعدة مع فولكس فاجن هي بداية جيدة. "

President Kagame today inaugurated the new Volkswagen Assembly Plant in Rwanda, the first integrated mobility solution in Africa, located in the Special Economic Zone. The facility will include a service and sales retail outlet, vehicle assembly, training center and a mobility company that will undertake the first-ever car-sharing service in Rwanda.
President Kagame noted that the Volkswagen brand was among the first cars to be used in Rwanda, and cited the event as history repeating itself, for Volkswagen to begin assembling cars in Rwanda.
“Some have found it hard to believe that German cars can truly be manufactured in Rwanda. However, today the first vehicles are rolling off the assembly line. This facility undoubtedly represents a new chapter in Rwanda’s economic transformation journey. There are also positive implications for Africa in general. No Global brands can not only assemble high quality products in Africa but also find customers here.Africa is not only positioning itself as a new low-cost manufacturing hub for goods for export.African consumers will also be among the biggest contributors to the growth of global demand in the coming years.
President Kagame noted that it was more cost-effective for Rwandans and Africans in general to focus on buying new products rather than second-hand ones, because Africa deserves better.
“Africa doesn't need to be a landfill for used cars, or anything used. In the long run, you end up paying a higher price anyway. If you can pay so dearly for a second hand, why not pay so dearly for something new? It's Simple choice. Africans and Rwandans, we deserve the best. This is one way to show how we can afford it. For these and other reasons, this promising partnership with Volkswagen is a good start."
The launch in Rwanda marks the Volkswagen brand's expansion of its involvement in Africa. Thomas Schaefer, CEO of Volkswagen Group South Africa and responsible for the sub-Saharan region, stated that the company's interest in Rwanda was mostly because they saw in Rwanda a country with great potential, a country that was young, modern and hungry for individual mobility.
“With a package tailored to the region that includes local vehicle production, new vehicle business and innovative mobility services, we intend to harness growth opportunities and create new opportunities. Rwanda can become a blueprint for other African countries and emerging markets.”
The project begins with the participation of community cars primarily targeting organizations in the capital, Kigali.
