As creatives, procrastination doesn’t always look like laziness… sometimes it looks like self doubt.
A while back, I went for a shoot and honestly, when I got back to my PC and reviewed the footage, I felt disappointed. The shots looked average to me. I almost postponed editing because I thought, Maybe this isn’t good enough.
But I decided to edit anyway.
I pushed through the doubt, made a rough draft, and sent it to the client expecting corrections and feedback.
Their response?
"WOW 😭🔥”
That draft instantly became the final video.
That moment taught me something powerful:
Sometimes the thing stopping us isn’t lack of talent, it’s overthinking before we even finish the work.
Here are 4 things that help me beat procrastination as a creative:
1️⃣ Start before you feel ready
2️⃣ Stop chasing perfection
3️⃣ Create on schedule, not emotion
4️⃣ Remove distractions and focus deeply
Most breakthroughs happen AFTER you begin.
Your unfinished idea could be someone else’s masterpiece.
