On one of our last group coaching calls I said…
Don’t hold back from sharing your story just because it’s hard. If you feel called to it, if you’re passionate about sharing your story, go ahead and share it.
Then give yourself the space afterward to see how you feel. What’s your nervous system feeling like. Where’s your head at, where’s your heart at. How are you doing when people are commenting. Is it bringing back too many emotions, or is it lighting a fire under you to share it again. When you put in the reps, that’s when you know what your recovery needs to look like.
If you’ve been holding back, another course, another podcast, another coach isn’t going to change what needs to happen. You need to put in the reps. You need to up your weight and share that heavy story. Then you need to see what recovery looks like for you, after working through those emotions and allowing yourself to be seen and vulnerable in public. What does your nervous system need. What does your creativity need.
Most of the time you take time to get control of your breath, to stretch, maybe an ice bath, maybe the chiropractor. What could that look like for you? Those same principles apply when you’re lifting up the weight of a heavy story in service of others.
And the reason to give yourself that chance is because on the other side of sharing a story like that you usually find the most aligned opportunities to work with a brand, an organization, or a business.
If you haven’t tried that yet, maybe you need encouragement from a community. Maybe you need to come to a coaching call and talk through what that could look like for you. I’d love to see you at our next call this July.
