Iāve been on an kick. Maybe itās the new year and wanting to revamp our dinner menus, maybe itās this cold weather that has me yearning for that east coast sunshine, or maybe it was just that I love her memoir I finished reading last weekā¦but either way, Ina takes me to another place entirely.
Her cooking takes me to Rhode Island, the home of one of my dearest friends, š I know Ina is known for her shop/home in East Hampton, but everything about her reminds me of Tegan and my visit to her home. Her attention to detail and cooking - Tegan once baked me the most DELICIOUS bagels. I cannot describe them in any way that would do the justice. They were JUST THAT GOOD! She made me lemon bars when I was postpartum with my son, and I still have dreams about them!
When I visited her and Colton in Newport, she took me to one of the well-known areas with boutiques, dining, etc and gifted me a jar of Newport Sea Salt. My husband and I now refer to this as āshire saltā (a Lord of the Rings reference ) because I only use it on the most intentional meals I cook. It graces the top of my sourdough avocado toast and the chocolate covered strawberries that Gregory surprised me with on NYE. We only use it when it will be fully highlighted, tasted, and appreciated!
Gosh take me back to Newport already because I need that salty ocean air, long walks along the coastline with my girl, and those beach shack lobster rolls that blew my mind! ā¦but in the meantime, youāll catch me cooking one of Ina Gardenās east coast inspired recipe just to get my fill!
