Guess who’s the oldest sibling and who’s the middle sibling? 😉

Look… we didn’t choose the birth order. The birth order chose us.

Side note: please don’t hike in southern Arizona in the middle of summer unless you plan to be on the trail around sunrise before it gets too hot or just before sunset when it begins to cool off.

It really was 103°F (39°C) and muggy from a recent monsoon storm when we filmed this. It was miserably hot out there! Also… full disclosure: we weren’t actually hiking, we were in my yard. We’re from Arizona and hear all the rescue stories on the news, so please believe me when I tell you that hiking in this kind of heat is dangerous.

If you must be out in these temperatures, bring extra water, electrolytes, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses, and don’t plan to go far.

Be honest… are you the kind of person who loves spending summer seeking out cold adventures, or are you normal?

Maybe it’s because I grew up melting in the extreme southern Arizona heat, but I love spending my summers finding cold places to explore.

Svalbard seemed like a safe bet for some cold temperatures, and it definitely didn’t disappoint.

Would you consider spending summer in Svalbard?

And it wasn’t even one of the more dramatic, colorful ones… but it still looked like this magic. 😍

This is an amazing hike at Mt. Rainier to save for your bucket list. 🏔️

📍 Sourdough Gap to Upper Crystal Lake Overlook via Pacific Crest Trail

🥾 My watch recorded 7 miles (11.3km) with 1,552ft (473m) of elevation gain and loss.

I needed a lower-intensity hike than usual without too much elevation gain and loss following a pretty intense abdominal surgery I was still healing from, but I also really wanted it to have stunning views. This hike was perfect, and the views were even better than expected!

At the end of the last video, you can kind of see the summit of Tahoma (aka Mt. Rainier) hiding behind the clouds. I’d love to do this hike again on a clear day just to see that view!

✅ Save this one for your Washington hikes, and send it to your favorite hiking buddy!

Anyone else have this problem, or is it just me?

I, for one, am always happy when Arizona dials up the drama at sunset.

It’s the reward for not melting in 105°F/40.5°C heat, though my car tried to tell me it was 112°F/44°C because she was feeling just as dramatic as the sunset today.

Anyway, it’s fine. We’re fine. We’re surviving. 🫠🏜️

If you’re looking for an escape from reality, here are five places in the USA that feel otherworldly.

1. Bentonite Hills, Utah is an incredible place near Hanskville, which is a great place to spend a weekend.

2. The Na’Pali Coast is downright magnificent. I’ve seen it by boat and by helicopter, and both were incredible.

3. White Pocket, Arizona is one of my favorite places on Earth. If you don’t have access to a high clearance 4x4 vehicle and you’re not confident navigating off grid, I recommend booking a private tour out of Kanab.

4. Homer, Alaska is stunning. Book a helicopter tour with Alaska Ultimate Safaris to see views you wouldn’t otherwise have access to (like this one). It is an extraordinary place for adventures.

5. Broken Top in Oregon is a hike that exceeded my expectations. It is worth the effort once you get to No Name Lake. It’s not far from Bend, which is a wonderful outdoorsy town to visit.

Which place is first on your bucket list? ➡️ Send to your favorite adventure buddy and start planning your trip!

Better book that trip just to be sure. 😉

I would *never* tell you to impulsively book a trip to Arizona…

I’m just going to leave this here and let the evidence speak for itself. 🌵😂

Now the important question: which of these places would you want to explore first?

And send this to the person you’d make come with you. ✈️🏜️

The struggle is real.

Where do you want to go next? I’d really love to go back to Norway. We did a backpacking trip through Jotunheimen National Park, then flew to Lofoten for more hiking. It was one of those trips that lives in my mind rent free.

This particular view was from a boat ride we took to see Trollfjord while visiting Lofoten, and it was a nice way to relax after exhausting ourselves on the trails for a couple of weeks.
