I'm going with the opposite of sappy for this caption, because I max'd out my feels the entire editing session and I have both too many and not enough words for this wonderful family. So I won't mention how I accidentally got a friendship out of a wedding consultation, a "I could make you that" Ryan out of that friendship, and then BONUS - his parents (who give the best parent hugs and also giant pumpkins for my kids from their garden), one who just took my hubs out for breakfast for business wisdom. (I could go on for several paragraphs) So, I'm going to keep it light -

Session Mental Notes:
*The nap I took in the car before this session was amazing.
*Multi-generational family photos on your family farm was a GENIUS idea! WOW it's pretty.
*Everyone looks REALLY good - nailed the 'going together but not matching!'
*OMG these cousins look like siblings this year. When did that happen? Have they noticed this?
*There are horseys!?!? Yaaaay!
*I really love old barn wood.
*[The teens] look like young adults now 🤯
*I think there's a 🐝 nest...time to move.
*Someone is coming up the driveway - hope they wanna be in pictures too! (Probably not, but they were anyway)
*Wait, there are sandwiches!!?!?
*Heritage photo on the wall? ...Oh phewf - we did a shot like that.
*Today was a good day.

Happy Anniversary, Josh & Steven! This wedding was packed full of thoughtful details and even more thoughtful humans. The ch*****ne on the beach? Thoughtful humans. The sweet and simple setup: thoughtful helpers. The bubbles in some of the group photos: thoughtful human. Not pictured: a full plate of food, prepared for me, because they knew I probably wouldn't get to that - very thoughtful human. The person who made the grooms their beautiful sunflower quilt: talented, thoughtful human.
This day had a million picture perfect moments. I staged none of them - it was just that kind of day, and I'm so grateful I got to be a part of it.
Joshua & Steven - I hope your first year of married life was amazing - thanks for letting me share these and celebrate you two!

I LOVED hearing about all of Avery's world travels and how they've incorporated family adventures into that reality. The loving back and forth banter, jokes, and reliving travel memories from around the world made me extra glad that we picked such a gorgeous representation of home for their family photos.

The tractor photo at the end is fully unrelated to this shoot, other than it was my drive home that night and I love farming season and thought I'd share it too. Hope youall are enjoying the the sunset season of summer break.

She'd been dreaming of portraits in a poppy field for years and then she found this. And they invited me to join them. And it was a magical day! (Except the part where I got my car stuck between the red field and the pink fields for a minute 😆🫣😆 and reality was very real) - then back to the magic. Thank you for including me in this beautiful moment. It was a dream for me too!

If you're looking at these images and you find yourself unexpectedly wishing you'd attended this wedding because everyone looks so fun to be around, then I captured the vibes accurately. Hanging with this entire wedding was like a warm hug. Everyone was so fun and welcoming and I felt like I knew everyone by the time I went home.

Other details that will break your brain: these two are as smart as they are gorgeous (they aren't social media folks, so I'm just telling you all the tea). He is the quietest, but his eyes say it all, and the way he looks at Melanie will knock you over. Melanie is as kind (and talented) as she is beautiful and smart. She arts and crafted almost this entire wedding. (Including her dress. SHE MADE HER DRESS!)

Wedding party and guests: should you ever find this post, YOU are as amazing as they are, because all of you kept coming up to me all night, telling me the best stories about these two, and holy wow I felt like a guest by the time the night was over.

Congrats Melanie & Evan. I hope our paths cross again - it'll be a treat for me for sure.

Happy Anniversary to two of my favorite people to enjoy happy hour with! Nik & Andrew - I love that we still chat occasionally two years later. Your love story continues to make me smile with your enviable couples adventures and amazing support of each other.
..I didn't get a chance to post these when A & N got married and they were kind enough to let me brag on them today, their two year anniversary. And the bonus for me was getting to relive their reception while picking a few quick favorites to share with youall.

Cheers to many more anniversaries and adventures. I can't wait to see what comes next!

I don't shoot for MOM mag regularly anymore (🕰️) but when I heard Emma was chosen and that we could all get credit for a job well done (hello family photo day that everyone already nailed under a much lower pressure reality!), I said yes before the question was even all the way out. Please note Solo (my favorite rotten goat) made a sneaky appearance in Emma's solo shots (the one thing we definitely didn't do on family photo day). Emma - I'm so thrilled they chose to highlight you. You're an amazing example of a mother and more people should really be aware. ❤

I got so excited to post a family photo of this family with their newest addition that I didn't even stop to write a caption.

Congratulations you guys!

It's always such a treat to see this family! Watching elder siblings welcome new babies remains one of the coolest job perks ever.
