What's the difference between screen printing and my current form of printing, DTF?

For myself, everything. No more chemicals. No more buying tubs of ink in several colors costing hundreds upon hundreds of dollars.

No more creating a screen for each and every color printed that I had to charge YOU for, and several other variables. Let's not forget the heat! No more 120 degree days in a 12 x12 room with two scorching ovens.( Funny, it never made me thinner)

While prices have gone up slightly over the last 3 years, for the most part that average is only by a dollar or two per item, depending on the garment.

Go ahead and price it out. Custom Ink site will charge you $25 for a shirt that I charge you $15. That alone should seal their fate.

You can have a full color print for no added charges unlike screen printing where each color is a separate fee for each garment.

Sure the DTF feel is a little different than screen printing but in most cases for the amount of colors you get it is far lighter than stacking ink on top of each other.

I have learned many ways to print and press DTF transfers to make it as light as possible by using many screen printing methods in the design process through software.

Just please be sure to see the post before this on proper file types and AI designs. đŸ˜€

It is time to have "The ai Discussion."

This applies to everybody, so no one feels they are being thrown under the RTS Bus.

The Core Problem: Low Resolution
Most free AI outputs and previews use 72 DPI at a small size.

Phone Compression:
Text apps and chats shrink file quality even more. When you send these to me on your phone, they are worse than they started.

Blurring:
Stretching a small picture makes a blurry print. I can not enlarge ai images.

Print Requirements DPI:
You need at least 300 DPI for a sharp image.

Size:
Files must start at a minimum size like 10x10 inches.

Format:
Use high-quality PNG or vector files. No backgrounds. Removing the background can eat into the design when you remove colors.

What You Should Do:

Avoid free AI tools and low-quality web previews for print files. Use paid software or proper design tools to upscale images. Always verify your file specifications before printing. Custom shirt sites often compress your uploads into low-resolution files too.
For high-quality printing, use a direct, lossless uploader like the one at Digital Ink Arts to send files without losing quality. Just be sure it is good quality. In most cases, you can pay for AI to allow high-quality PNG files, but the free stuff. Sorry, it doesn't work; it needs so much work before it can be printed.

Hope this helps the people who just don't know, and I will just link this text to people when I receive those images.
