9/2026 The first buck was striking a pose and the 2nd was losing the remaining portion of his velvet on his antlers. The velvet is a highly vascularized skin layer that covers the developing antler bone helping it grow very quickly.

8.24.26 I was fortunate to see this juvenile red headed woodpecker in my yard. I'm going back a few days to see what I haven't shared yet. I can't believe it is September already. We had beautiful weather for our Labor Day weekend.

It was so nice meeting Hugh and Dakota at the Penn Forest Recreational Park Fall Festival today. It is so nice to meet people who enjoy our wildlife and you took the time to say hi. I met you both separately today. I tried to find you under folks following me, but couldn't find you to tag you. Hopefully, you will see this. Just know your actions today were appreciated.
The fawns are losing their spots. This one found on 8.30.26 only has spots on the front and back remaining. Also sharing some other recent fawns.
