West of Magdalena. Sonny

I started taking portraits of the interesting people I encountered when I moved to Magdalena, NM. One of these individuals was Sonny.

Having lived and worked most of my life in a big city, meeting and photographing a genuine cowboy like Sonny was a delightful experience.

Sonny is a true cowboy who lives on a thousand-acre ranch west of Magdalena. He ropes and brands cattle and participates in all the activities you would expect from a cowboy. I found it fascinating to talk with Sonny and spend that afternoon with him, gaining deeper insights into the lifestyle od a cowboy.

" Portrait Of A Lesser Goldfinch" taken in my backyard in La Luz, New mexico

I love photographing the birds that come to our feeders in the mountains of La Luz, NM but primarily because I'm looking for photos that are unusual or that show a bird's personality. While so many excellent photographers out there are getting amazing shots of birds in their natural environments, I am attempting to create a simple approach to bird photography where by cropping, and with the right lighting, I can create more intimacy with my subject.

It's just a strawberry, but as they say, less is more. What makes you have a strawberry craving, a bowl of little berries or one big one? And for the technically inclined, I used my Nikon macro lens for this.

This was a photo I took just because the light on the table was perfect and the appetizer looked so delicious. This is my mother-in-law?s tomato chutney spread over a block of cream cheese. Highly recommend.

Philippines

The Thirteen Coins (2014)

Captured during wedding preparations in the Philippines, this image features the traditional Arrhae?thirteen coins exchanged by the bride and groom as a symbol of prosperity and shared responsibility.

Lit with a single LED light from above, the coin was carefully positioned within its heart-shaped holder, with a small piece of clay hidden from view to keep it standing. The reflection on the glass surface added depth and balance, turning a simple wedding detail into a symbol of the promises about to be made.

After nearly two decades of photographing weddings, I?ve learned that some of the most meaningful stories are often found in the smallest details.

CNM Albuquerque

A few months ago, I decided to learn photography as a way to help me see the beauty around me that often us Military veterans struggle to find.
I was assigned to prepare a photo marketing project for my CNM Visualizing Studio Photography class taught by Stefan Batist. I chose to show the elegance of Lamarca Prosecco Rose for my project portfolio.

Franklin, Wiggles (sister) and I all live in Albuquerque, NM. Franklin is a rescue that found me after I lost my Mini Dachshund, girl, Casey. He is a sweet, affectionate, gentle little spirit that came from an abusive environment but now lives peacefully, acting as a model, in my little home studio. The photo was shot with a Lumix 5sii, 50mm, f9, iso 100, 1/60 shutter speed and a 2-flash set up.

Freeport, Illinois

This is a close-up of a flower called a cineraria. It?s from a color slide taken back in the late 70s/early 80s. I bet many others also have older images that the rest of us would like to see.9
