There are some images that live in your portfolio… and then there are the ones that live in your soul.

This is one of mine.

I had this image in my head for years before I ever had the studio to create it. I kept telling my girl Marcie, “One day, we’re doing this.”

The inspiration came from that unforgettable National Geographic portrait of the Afghan girl with those piercing light eyes. That image stayed with me because of the power of her gaze. The way a single portrait could stop you in your tracks.

Years later, I finally had the space, the light, the model, and the opportunity to bring my own vision to life.

And we made this.

Still one of my favorite photographs I have ever created. Not because it is perfect, but because it reminds me that sometimes an idea will live inside you for years, waiting for you to finally have the tools to give it form.

Never stop making the images you can already see in your mind. 🖤

This weekend was full.

Full of creativity.
Full of connection.
Full of culture, community, style, movement, and moments worth remembering.

And now the next phase begins.

The event may be over, but the visual story is still being built.

This is the part people do not always see after a major event: the backing up, sorting, selecting, editing, organizing, refining, and preparing the images so the story can be shared with care.

Because intentional event photography does not end when the lights go down.

That is where the work continues.

The finished images from this weekend are coming soon, and I cannot wait to share what we captured.

Three events. One extraordinary weekend. And thousands of moments that deserved to be remembered.

The beautiful part of event photography is that while everyone else is experiencing what is happening in front of them, I am constantly looking for the story unfolding underneath it.

The glance across the room.

The details someone spent months planning.

The pride.

The movement.

The people connecting.

The moments that disappear almost as quickly as they happen.

Photographing the Salad Bowl America Gala, Humankind Day Cultural Celebration, and Art Battle Albuquerque was about so much more than documenting an event.

It was about creating a visual record of creativity, culture, community, and human connection.

And now that the galleries are coming to life, we finally get to share some of what we witnessed.

This is why I believe great event photography should make you feel something even if you weren’t there.
