David Hood Photography I enjoy digital photography and editing, and one-on-one tutoring. Please see my website. We have two grown sons, 6 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Retired military veteran turned Photographer and Tutor pursuing my passion for Capturing the Wonders Found in Travel and Life. My dear wife Barbara and I were married in 1967 and live in Albuquerque, NM. Our life centers around our extended family. Following my retirement, I entered the world of digital photography and since 2015 have been self-employed as a professional photographer and loving ev

ery minute of it! I enjoy getting to see new places, meeting new people, and studying my craft to strive for continuous improvement. I particularly enjoy sharing my passion for digital photography with others and do so by sharing my art and offering personal camera and Photoshop training to photographers in my area. Ansel Adams used his considerable skills to capture photographs but transformed his photographs into works of art by shaping the gamut of light in the darkroom. In today’s digital world our shaping of light and color is accomplished with post processing software such as Photoshop. I hope that you enjoy my work.

Agree/Disagree? Not everything needs to be optimized.

That’s usually where the best decisions come from anyway, not overthinking, just recognizing what feels right.

Some things can just exist because you like them.

Because they make a moment feel a little better, or a day feel a little lighter.

Choose "David J Hood Dsc 6200" because you connect to it, and that's enough.

Travel changes how you see things.

You notice details, textures, moments you would usually overlook. Bringing something like “Calm Before the Storm in B&W/Color” into your home can recreate that sense of attention.

What’s something you’ve noticed more deeply while traveling that you wish you could bring home with you?

White Iris

This artwork presents a delicate white iris, its petals unfurling gracefully to reveal intricate yellow veining at the center. The soft texture and luminous quality of the flower evoke a sense of tranquility and beauty, inviting admiration for nature's artistry. Set against a blurred natural backdrop, this piece captures the essence of floral elegance, making it a perfect addition to any home or office space that might benefit from a touch of Spring and invite conversation.

Choosing work like “Busy Bee” does more than shape your space.

It supports an independent artist and keeps original work circulating in the world instead of getting lost in mass production.

When you bring something like this into your home, you’re part of that story.

If you had to describe the feeling of “Madonna in the Cottonwood” using just one emoji, what would it be?

It’s a simple way to notice your instinctive reaction before you overthink it.

Happy Emoji Day, by the way. ✌️🫰
