Some black & whites from the last few weeks for this rainy Tuesday morning!

We’ve got a busy few weeks ahead with sessions, a family trip, moving, and more. If you are expecting later this summer or into fall, I’d love to connect and help get something on the calendar. Once summer passes, the months seem to blend together with school starting and fall craziness!

Summertime in the south - it’s hot, it’s humid, it’s long sun soaked days with the kids home, it’s cannon balls in the pool, and bare feet in the yard. Fall sessions are well loved for a reason, but summer shouldn’t be overlooked. The kids are home so scheduling is a breeze. Embrace the heat and splash in the backyard or take a trip to the lake and put your toes in the sand. Have your slow morning sipping coffee on the porch while the kids jump on the trampoline and chase the dog… some of the your kids fondest memories from childhood will likely be from their summers, so let’s document them. ✨

If second time motherhood taught me anything, it’s how different two siblings can be. Right from the start, my girls have been completely different babies- and there is beauty in that. To see those little personalities shine, those little quirks from toddlerhood blossom into something different (but the same) into childhood and on, is the coolest thing!

If each child was the same, we wouldn’t stretch and grow in the same ways… each teaches us to love differently. While one encourages us to be more adventurous, another encourages appreciating the small things- how “wonderful” the day is or the fun of splashing in the rain.

What a joy it is to watch them grow, and then to love on their “new baby”, this little person that will teach us- and them- all the more.

Mother’s Day last year looked a lot different than it does this year. We were 4 days into a 2.5 week hospital stay in the Neuro ICU. I remember walking in that day clutching little handmade Mother’s Day gifts Edie had made for her, so grateful my mom was still here with us, but feeling the heaviness of the unknown- how long would she be here? Would she gain her memory back? Would things ever be the same?

To see the confusion in her eyes, my mom who just days ago was completely fine, who we had just weeks ago returned from a girls beach trip with, when I handed her Edie’s sweet gifts, was heartbreaking. Seeing her frustration when she couldn’t remember the year, how she got there, who people were… Ugh. Now, don’t get my wrong, there were some funny and wholesome moments too. We never left her side even while she requested canned sardines as her lunch (I’m sure the only patient on the floor to ever do so lol), insisted she make it back to work for Mother’s Day 3 days after a ruptured brain aneurysm, and say some very funny things.

Long story short, I’m feeling very grateful this year. For a full recovery- truly the best prognosis we could get for something so serious, for perspective- things can change in an instant, and for a Mother’s Day spent together outside 4 white walls and constant beeping…

We love you Mom (Mimi!)

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas! May you realize just how much you are loved today 💗

Bre & Josh gathered together with their family and friends to elope in a beautiful Georgia field last month and I was so honored to be there to witness it!

We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful spring day 🌱

No, you didn’t miss the chance for photos of them little… this is proof ✨

Sure, they change so much over that first year, but they are still SO little at just a few months old. Their personalities are blooming and their necks are a little less wobbly for a picture with big sis! So if life was too busy, overwhelming or passed you by… and so did newborn photos, there’s still time to capture them little!

Life with two.
You have the experience. You’ve been through sleepless nights, sunset scaries, quiet moments nursing in the dark. You figured out the perfect rocking pattern and how to lay baby down without them waking , all for a 20ish minute nap.

So now this part all seems easier the second time around. Your heart grows and now you get to watch your whole world love another human being; become their best friend. Listen to the giggles and watch them grow together.

Sure, you repeat “touch his toes, not his face!” 6,000x a day now…but it’s all worth it. You know now this stage is just that.. a stage. Soak it in ✨
