Deep into the woods. Down into the gorge. Surrounded by pines, water, Queen Anne’s lace, tall grasses, and just enough imagination to picture tiny pixie fairies dancing through the trees with little white lights. ✨🌿
Tonight’s maternity session was something really special.
This sweet couple came from New York City, originally from Utah, and they wanted something completely different from a typical maternity session. They loved the woods. The pines. The water. The wild grasses. The earthy, natural feeling of it all.
So we went ALL in. 🌲💧
At the beginning, they told me they were nervous and weren’t quite sure what to do. I told them what I tell almost every couple: that is completely normal. 😂 You don’t have to know how to pose. You just have to show up, trust me, and let me make you laugh a little.
And honestly? They absolutely nailed it. ❤️
There was something so beautiful about photographing this stage of their lives surrounded by nature. The kind of session where everything feels a little dreamy and a little magical.
And then…
It got DARK. 😂
Like “okay, everybody turn on your phone flashlights because apparently we live here now” dark.
By the time we were making our way back out of the woods, I was seriously wishing I had brought some water with me. But we survived, nobody got eaten by the forest, and I’m pretty sure it was worth it. 😉
I don’t photograph maternity sessions all the time, but every time I do, I leave feeling so grateful that I said yes. My maternity clients are always so appreciative, and there’s something incredibly special about being trusted to document such an important chapter for a growing family.
And can we also give a little appreciation to the dads who come along and actually get involved? 🥹❤️
I’m just saying… I’m much happier walking out of the woods at 8 PM with a husband than by myself. 😂
Tonight was beautiful. Truly beautiful.
Thank you for trusting me to create something a little wild, a little whimsical, and completely you. 🌿✨
