A couple of weeks ago, I was driving when I spotted a turtle trying to cross a busy road. With cars coming from both directions, I pulled over, got out, picked her up, and placed her safely in the grass on the side of the road.
Meanwhile, Gabby was completely freaking out inside the car. 😂 She had never seen me rescue a turtle before.
I grew up in the countryside of Cuba, where catching turtles and all kinds of little critters was just part of childhood. So to me, it wasn’t a big deal at all.
I got back in my car, feeling pretty good about myself. Before driving away, I looked over one last time to make sure she was staying put.
That’s when I saw her… climbing right back up the ditch and heading toward the road again. 😂
Apparently, turtles are very determined and like to keep going where they originally intended to go.
So yes… I turned around, picked her up a second time, and this time I put her in my car and drove her to the nearest lake. 🐢❤️
At that point, she really couldn’t complain. I upgraded her from the middle of traffic to a fancy lake with waterfront views. 😂
