Grover Cleveland Naval Academy, St. Louis, MO.
A beautiful castle like school where students and teachers filled the hallways, now boarded up, abandoned and forgotten, left to rot. During my urban exploration of this academy I posted a few photos that you can see on my wall but I never posted this one because I wasn't sure what the point was because who was I? Im Just a photographer that barely anyone knows about. A normal guy with a Normal life.. When I walked into this room, which is an office area where a year prior there was a fire in this part of the school. When I walked into this room my heart sank.. Immediately after seeing the heavy coats, pants, shoes, dress shoes, boots, belts, hats, sock hats, socks, and many more forms of the students uniforms of ALL sizes I thought back to a story I heard about in the news about some homeless people in the city of St. Louis that were tortured by the harsh winter and had died due to hypothermia and I thought.. what if they had some of these clothes that were left here and now infested with mice and exposed to the elements. What if they had the boots to get through the snow.. The clothes in the room could have covered 100s of people in true need.. it made me sick. They were left there without a care in the world or even a thought other than my own and I did nothing. I attempted to go back to salvage something but the entrance was closed up... it hurt that I couldn't do anything about it, it hurt worse that I didnt.. Never forget regardless of the hatred and the divide others want us to have.. we are still people, we are still human and we have to remember to show compassion to one another. Without that.. we have nothing..
