This is one of my earlier photos from 2019. I remember this night fairly well. I limited myself to 20 photos this night and only shot in monochrome. Closest thing I've got to film without actually having a film camera. Going on photo walks like this really helps you slow down and pay attention. I need to do this again soon!

Who knew pine cones could make such great subjects. 😂. Each year, I go to the St. Charles Christmas walk to take photos in a street photography style, but this past year, it didn't work out since I went on a Sunday night where barely anyone was there.
So, instead of packing up and just going home, I decided to shoot macro shots and create a photo inside what could typically be a photo.
The details of christmas wreaths, store fronts, and ornaments became the subjects of the night!
When things don't work out the way you planned, adapt to the surroundings!

Some of my favorite photos were taken at this burning building in the heart of downtown Woodriver in 2021. I never would have gotten these powerful photos if I didn't walk out my door after already getting in bed for the night and after not even touching my camera for months! This is your call to action to take action and go for it, whatever it may be, just like these brave firefighters did that night. You can do it!

Two different photos I've taken, 1 after a huge snowfall and an hour of hiking through it and determined to take this one photo in January of 2020 at the beginning of my photography.
The other I took in the fall of 2022 during a desperate task of forcing myself to bring back the passion that I felt when I took the 1st photo. I told myself I just need to take the 1st step. I searched all day for something worth photographing, something that could reignite the spark I once had. I gave up as I was crossing the Hardin bridge to escape a storm coming my way. When I saw these abandoned grain bins. I quickly turned around, parked and immediately started shooting. The storm was moving in but nothing could've stopped me. I was watching the clouds cover the sky but the light still managed to shine through and I couldn't help but think about the life I've lived and what photography has done for me. I've seen so much darkness, I've been beaten down and forgotten so many times my entire life just like these grain bins but light continues to shine down on me.
This moment was all I needed to remind myself to always push forward and always take that 1st step. I hope this story could help someone like it helped me. Never devalue your loved ones, your life and your passions, because once you do your light will go out.

Grover Cleveland Naval Academy, St. Louis, MO.
A beautiful castle like school where students and teachers filled the hallways, now boarded up, abandoned and forgotten, left to rot. During my urban exploration of this academy I posted a few photos that you can see on my wall but I never posted this one because I wasn't sure what the point was because who was I? Im Just a photographer that barely anyone knows about. A normal guy with a Normal life.. When I walked into this room, which is an office area where a year prior there was a fire in this part of the school. When I walked into this room my heart sank.. Immediately after seeing the heavy coats, pants, shoes, dress shoes, boots, belts, hats, sock hats, socks, and many more forms of the students uniforms of ALL sizes I thought back to a story I heard about in the news about some homeless people in the city of St. Louis that were tortured by the harsh winter and had died due to hypothermia and I thought.. what if they had some of these clothes that were left here and now infested with mice and exposed to the elements. What if they had the boots to get through the snow.. The clothes in the room could have covered 100s of people in true need.. it made me sick. They were left there without a care in the world or even a thought other than my own and I did nothing. I attempted to go back to salvage something but the entrance was closed up... it hurt that I couldn't do anything about it, it hurt worse that I didnt.. Never forget regardless of the hatred and the divide others want us to have.. we are still people, we are still human and we have to remember to show compassion to one another. Without that.. we have nothing..
