Sometimes I have to pause and wonder where the years went. It feels like just yesterday Tamiya was standing in front of my camera as a little girl, and now here she is, stepping into her senior year. It has been such a privilege watching her grow into a kind, thoughtful, and beautiful young woman. These are the moments that remind me why I love what I do.

I swear the thing I photograph most while hiking is trees and rocks. Most never get seen by anyone but me. I love the twistiness and texture of this tree!

I will be out of the studio June 28th - July 3rd and will be unreachable due to no cell service. Maybe I'll share some pictures of trees and rocks when I get back!

Not every session comes with perfect weather... but sometimes imperfect weather creates the most beautiful images. I mean, just look at this.

Do you have any idea how many scratches I collect trying to capture images like this? Shooting through tree branches for that natural little vignette is always an adventure, but I think it's worth it. It adds a slight touch of magic!

What on earth is she thinking about!? I'd also like to mention that the other dogs are sleeping and the house is quiet.... I look over and she's smiling away.

This past weekend, I spent some time experimenting in the studio with a few photographer friends and pushing ourselves to try something new. Let's just say there were plenty of weird images and failed attempts before everything finally clicked! 😆

That's one of the things I love most about photography. Sometimes the best images come from being willing to experiment, make mistakes, and keep tweaking until the vision comes together. And the best part? This image was created entirely in camera.
