In regards to Cowgirls lassoing the moon there's a greater story that needs to be told and incredible creatures that need to be celebrated. when visiting Those Guys Rodeo Co. and meeting Obbie Schlom it was apparent that these horses are more than what broncs are labeled. They are so incredibly intelligent, versatile, and powerful.... so is obbie. I recognized immediately this was a force to be admired and powerful story to be told, So I ask Obbie to tell it...
"There's power in speaking things into existence. 15+ years ago, what I used to joke about, has become more then I could have ever prayed for. Those Guys Rodeo Co has become something I could have never imagined and in the last few years has really taken a new shape. I started out with a handful of practice horses when I was rodeoing " full time" and is now a full string. We contract rodeos and host schools with rider appropriate stock, and have practices for the public. The horses are more then just broncs, they're a little girls dream thats become a reality. They've been my constant over the years and through all the trials and struggles they've always been my God sent. I dont see them as just broncs.... They're so much more than that. There's not enough time in the day for me to explain my perspective of them but, in a nutshell, this is our mission statement:
In the last decade I've rededicated my life to Jesus and the second chance I've been blessed to receive has been a great outreach and testimony. All our pick up horses are buckin horses that have decided they needed a different occupation. In the last 10years we've trained and repurposed 56 broncs. These are some of the most talented and phenomenal mounts I've ever rode. They teach you to, " take them as they are, day to day". Its very humbling but extremely rewarding. These horses have touched countless lives and have reached more people and then I could have ever imagined. My friend and business partner in the past few years, Meg Greski Meg Greski, has helped grow our program and we're excited about the future of TG. This year we foaled our first set of home raised babies. Blessed is an understatement. These will be the forefront, Lord willing, of continuing a safe and educational place for horses and folks to come learn and pursue their Rodeo carriers. Blessed is an understatement, overwhelmingly grateful is a glimpse of what it feels like. -Obbie Schlom
