Cedar Waxwing, Pearrygin Lake State Park, Winthrop, WA 5/27/26.

Cedar Waxwings are named for the distinctive, bright red waxy droplets on the tips of their secondary flight feathers. These tips are not actually made of wax, but are extensions of the feather shaft colored by a red carotenoid pigment called astaxanthin, derived from their diet of berries.

I'm pleased to announce that my photography work is now featured in the recently-published cookbook 'Feed Your Neighbor: Recipes for Delivering Love & Healing' by Anacortes author Kami Bratten. This is the first time I've done the food photography for an entire cookbook and I'm very pleased with the end result - both the recipes and the photos!

The theme of ​'Feed Your Neighbor' is building community and fostering connection through the simple, intentional act of sharing food.

​'Feed Your Neighbor' is now available at local bookstores as well as on Amazon and other online resellers. You might want to pick up a copy - it's an awesome cookbook!
