We were on high alert knowing that there were Grizzlies around due to the salmon running. We had just seen one in the distance catch a big old fish then disappear. This black bear was so quiet and snuck up on us while we were watching the salmon in the river. We turned around and he was about 25 feet from us. He just stood there looking at us, processing whether the dead salmon on the bank behind was worth going through us or not. Thankfully he decided against that. After just looking at us for almost 60 seconds he slowly walked down toward where our kayak was pulled upon the beach and then up into the trees.
