Getting ready for the 8th Annual Motherhood Event at MMP. So excited to welcome dozens of mamas and kiddos over the next week!

Also, shout-out to my amazing daughter, Samantha, for all her hard work in planning, prepping, and decorating. She is my go-to girl and I’m delighted that I get to share this experience with her.

Come with me to put together outfits for a milestone session. We’re selecting options for mom, dad, two girls, and a baby boy

Results: we swapped mom for a dusty rose dress with the same colors so the other outfits stayed the same!

Remember "way back" in the 2010's, when were a thing? Well, they're making a comeback but this time I was inspired by who had us ask our go-to chatbot the prompt: "With all you know about me, tell me something that I might not realize about myself."

As an artist, Al has been somewhat of a slippery slope but I've learned how to use it as a tool and sounding board, and not as a replacement for my authentic voice. Even so, I was surprised by the response (and as touched as I could be knowing it was all computer-generated). Reading provided insight and articulation to the "what, how, and why" of who I am as a creator and an individual.

The part that stood out to me was this:

"You're constantly weaving together details (color, tone, structure, voice, imagery) into an environment where people feel at home and seen... your brand, your home, and your community projects all reflect the same underlying desire to cultivate comfort, connection, and beauty."

It made me think: if this is how a chatbot sees me, how do other people see me? (And let's face it, your opinion matters a whole lot more than a computer's!) What we put out there in the world- our contributions, our heart, our voice- is what really matters.

When we built our home, we wrote quotes, prayers, and scriptures on the framing, not as a good luck charm, but as a reminder to ourselves of what we wanted for our home. One of the most impactful was: "let this be a home made for gathering".

That has continued to be our guide for our home; doors always open to whoever needed it, hosting events, welcoming everyone like family, coffee always brewing. I hope we’ve lived up to that promise.

The same is true for our sessions- I wanted everyone that comes through those doors to feel at home. Spread out, let the kids make a mess, raid the snacks, and make memories in this place that I’ve made especially for you. Don’t worry about everything being perfect. If we need to cuddle baby first, we’ll do it. If your toddler wants storytime, let’s! If you need to talk about the struggles of motherhood, I’ll be ready with a hug and a box of tissues.

My studio- and my heart- are yours. ❤️

Day in the Life: Photo Edition

Tag along with me for a semi-typical summer work day. The kids are done with school and are in full summer-mode and so are photography sessions! I love that my days are a mix of “business & pleasure” so I get to enjoy the best of both worlds.

From the moment this family walked in, the love was pouring out. Their two older daughters were so excited to meet their new baby brother. They couldn’t stop hugging him, kissing him, and asking when it was their turn to hold him again. It was absolutely precious.

Baby boy was the most easygoing little guy. He was so calm throughout the whole session—sleepy, snuggly, and even gave us a few dreamy smiles. (Which, if you’ve ever photographed a newborn, you know is basically gold!)

Watching his sisters love on him was such a highlight. They were gentle and proud, clearly already smitten with their new role as big sisters. Their bond was immediate, and it showed in every frame.

We took our time and let the session unfold naturally. That’s the beauty of of the natural approach—I guide you gently, but always leave space for real connection. We’re here to capture you—the way you hold your baby, the way your children snuggle close, the way your partner looks at your growing family with love and pride.

Those are the moments that matter. Those are the memories you’ll want to remember forever.

Capturing the sweetest moments before this family of three becomes four! This gorgeous mama absolutely glowed in her long, white dress with the prettiest details, radiating grace and love as she awaits the arrival of her newest little love. Dad couldn’t stop smiling, his joy so evident as he held his two favorite girls close. And their precious daughter—shy at first but beaming with happiness—was the cutest soon-to-be big sister in her frilly blue outfit.

I can't wait to meet their little one in a few short weeks! I have a pretty good feeling that their newborn session is going to be just as beautiful!

The first quarter of the year tends to be slower (although there has been quite the baby boom keeping me busy) and many business owners use the downtime to work on evaluation, maintenance, and much-needed updates.

Last week was spent going through the website with a fine-tooth comb and finding all the broken links, out-of-date info, and formatting errors. The result is a much-happier website that is easier to navigate for all my wonderful families, clients, and fans.

This week has been spent behind the scenes on social media, making tweaks here and there to get things current and streamlined. One much-needed update was my Facebook cover photo. So many of us use social media on our phones, that the cover photo isn't always the first thing we notice, but mine hadn't been changed in a few years, so it needed a fresh face and a new design in line with my branding.

When it came time to choose who to feature on the cover, I was instantly drawn to this gorgeous baby girl for a breath of springtime. We'll be planning her one year session before we know it!
