Shalem Kitter is an award winning fashion and portrait photographer from Anchorage Alaska. Shalem’s work has been published nationally and internationally in fashion and beauty magazines including Cosmo Girl, Estetica, and American Salon. He and his husband, Mitch Kitter, maintain a downtown portrait studio and travel throughout the year doing beauty and editorial work for clients such as Sam Vill

a, and L’oreal. Shalem and his husband have also been featured in The Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, and The Advocate for The Love is Love Project a nationwide photo project promoting equal rights and marriage equality.

This past year was, without a doubt, one of the hardest of my life. Yet, amidst the hardship, I can already see the seeds of growth that will bloom in seasons to come.

Our culture so often glorifies constant harvests, but life doesn’t work that way. There are seasons of tilling and sowing—times when the hope of what could be is all that sustains us. These seasons demand patience, bravery, and trust in the process. When the fruit isn’t yet visible, the work can feel daunting. But even in the quiet of winter, there’s beauty in letting the soil rest.

As we step into this new year, I hope we all find the courage to embrace each season for what it brings. Growth is coming, even if we can’t see it yet.
