Snowy alpenglow ✨

With very limited time in my schedule I’m so glad I found a moment to drive up to snow dusted mountains for my dear friends holiday card shoot!

I don’t get to shoot a lot of these because of the chaos that is prep season for my other jobs. However this mood, this ethereal light is my favorite, and man it was so good to get behind the lens again!

Sometimes we have to be honest with ourselves. This past winter I had to take a hard look at my business and my life goals. With coaching, managing a gear store, and photography, I just have too much going on and let photography become my last priority, which was never my intent. I’ve had to really listen to my soul and move in the direction that brings me the most joy, investing my time into the things that bring life instead of taking life away.

I’ve allowed myself with being ok not booking big weddings, or shoots every weekend. But instead booking sessions that are exciting and creative ways to invest my time. I’ve stopped advertising and have let my clients find me naturally. This has grown into amazing relationships with my clients who hired me because they love my work and want to create a space of beautiful art with me.

I’m not ending my journey with photography, but I’m instead opening a new chapter. This year I will be booking less large weddings and focusing my energy on intimate weddings and elopements where the couple wants creative and unique images with an emphasis on nature and being immersed in the experience and environment.

Heyo!

It’s been a while since a ,I’ve popped on here and well to be honest, it’s because I’ve needed to put photography on the back burner for a while for some other parts of my life.

I got selected for a fellowship with the US Cross Country (Ski) Team to travel as a coach and tech to the World Cup. Essentially I got to jump in with the team for 3 weeks and get experience coaching on the biggest stage. I traveled to Ruka, Finland and Lillehammer, Norway and had a blast getting the know the team.

Because I traveled in a fellowship format I miss three weeks of regular work and have been trying to catch up since. I’m going to be popping in a bit more now as I find some more time but it might be a while before I’m back to my regular daily check-ins.

That’s a wrap!

My 2022 wedding season has come to a close! This gorgeous wedding at Alyeska was from July and one of my firsts of the season. I had many others in between that I’m super excited to share so be on the look out.
•
I’m overwhelmed by all the support from this community throughout this past season. It was by far my biggest wedding season yet and I’m super excited for next year. But for now I will be in my pajamas, on the couch, editing 24/7.
•
To all my couples who are waiting on galleries, thank you for being so patient. I have a lot going on between my multiple jobs and I promise, you will get all your gorgeous photos soon!

Rain on your wedding day 🌧

It’s good luck right? Morgan and Tanner were such champs about the monsoon that rolled through on their wedding. They trudged out into the rain without caring about getting a little muddy. And oh boy was it worth it!
•
If rain is in the forecast DON’T PANIC. It’s not all bad. But what should you do to prepare? Here’s a couple tips:
-My mascara wearing people: buy waterproof! This is good for multiple reasons but if it’s raining, it’s 100% necessary!
-CLEAR UMBRELLAS are absolutely key. They are classy, a good photo prop, and keep you and your clothes dry!
-Adjust your ceremony location (or just embrace the rain!). If you venue has shelter that works as a ceremony spot, then move your location! Just be flexible, and have a plan b if a storm is on the horizon.
-Just embrace it! Have fun dancing in the rain, and getting drenched just because you can! I promise that embracing the rain is so much more fun that being bummed out and hanging out inside! When life gives you rain, make a rainbow🌈

Blue hour🌙

I looooove blue hour. I always have. In my opinion it’s far and away better than golden hour (but I don’t hate golden hour that would be ridiculous). So why do we cherish golden hour and seemly forget about blue hour? Probably because blue hour in Alaska is at like 11:00pm but if your a night owl like me it couldn’t be a more perfect time!!! If your dying for some moody pictures and love a late evening adventure I’m your gal! Doesn’t have to be for any reason other than because you want to.🌛

There really doesn’t seem to be a better way to elope in Alaska than going on a hike to share your vows and then celebrate by eating a pizza and shot gunning some beers on the tailgate of your Tacoma.

Big first goal of 2022: Complete!

At the beginning of the year one of my big goals was to successfully host my first content day! And while there are things I definitely could improve upon, it turned out better than I could have imagined. It was a challenge that I’m still asking myself if I was ready for but if life is without pushing limits are you really living?
•
Huge thank you to everyone who came out to hang out with me for the day and to get some fire content of some unique Alaskan elopements. It was such a blast to hang out with some old friends and meet some new ones!
•
Also huge shout out to the vendors! They freaking killed it and were such a help in seeing my vision come to life! Extra big shout out to for talking through the looks with me and narrowing down the 50 million ideas in my head!
