I felt like doing an appreciation post for my partner in crime🤣, in business, and in life today: my dear husband, Korey! This guy has been supportive of my business and interested in it since we first met, even when we were still “just friends” prior to dating in 2011. When I get session inquiries from people who don’t already know Korey, they often get a funny look on their face when I explain that Korey isn’t a second photographer, but rather my assistant—like, “what exactly does that mean? He just stands there?” 😂—and then when session day comes, within minutes they realize how truly invaluable he is to creating a fun atmosphere, a seamless session where we can make the most out of our time together, and generally making everything easier on all of us!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He holds coats so you don’t have to throw them on the ground; he tosses trains on gowns into the air or throws leaves during fall sessions; he helps me set up inside the studio the night before and sometimes morning of bo***ir sessions; he adjusts distractions and lifts heavy stuff so that I don’t have to run back and forth between your position and my shooting position; he keeps an eye out for bears, moose, and creeps during secluded outdoor sessions so that I can relax and focus on your session through my camera; he often notices cell phones in pockets and hairties on wrists even before I do; he connects with family members at weddings and lets me know when a timeline moment is approaching; he puts his handyman skills to work when clients need help installing their printed photos; and he overall does anything that allows me to focus on doing what it takes the get THE SHOT (while cracking a joke here and there to get everyone laughing). I couldn’t do what I do as easily without him around. Three cheers for Korey!!! 🍻 Clients and friends, give this guy a shoutout for how amazing he is (both during sessions and just as a person!) As a true “behind the scenes” member of Lace & Fern, he deserves all the recognition!!!
