My name is Joshua, and I'm a NIKON photographer out of OH, KY, WV, and NC with over a decades worth of experience! Two of my passions in life are being a father and a photographer. I believe photography captures that moment in time that many of us are too busy to witness. I'm blessed to have been given the gift of photo taking as well inspiring others, to walk in my footsteps. Taking a photo is a
meditation in my mind. It's a place I go to relax and appreciate the beauty nature has to give. When I take a photograph I want my work to tell a story or show a type of emotion that makes you think or feel a sense of appreciation of your surroundings. The best spot I could imaging being that would have me at peace would be shooting a vibrant scenic sunset or being in the woods with nature away from civilization. I started taking photos professionally about 2 years ago. Though originally I was in school for painting and drawing. The Art of Photography was ultimately my true passion when it comes to art and eventually won me over. I enjoy taking photos of landscapes, portraits, wildlife, insects, and even stars and weather. I'm also newly certified by the NWS as a Skywarn Weather Spotter I started college in 2005 at Ohio University Southern Campus in Ironton, Ohio for painting and drawling. I worked with a SLR Camera and received experience developing film in the black room. Having this experience was what originally inspired me to take photos. I also have college experience in art from The Art Academy of Cincinnati as well as the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. My work has earned numerous awards in the past few years on websites such as Pixoto, com, Viewbug.com, and Youpic.com. Some of those awards included, “Photo of the Year”, through Pixoto.com and multiple Pier awards on Viewbug.com. Last summer, I won a sunset contest for best the sunset shot in West Virginia from The West Virginia Gazette, “The States Largest Newspaper”. It was an honor having my work published in this newspaper. I've also had photos shared by national media outlets such as The Weather Channel, Weather Nation TV, CBS News, and the manufacture of my camera Nikon. Even the Weather Channel's very own Jim Cantore has spoken about and shared my work in the past. I'm also a regular on reporter photos on WSAZ News Channel 3 and WOWK 13 News. Having admired so many photographer's works on Facebook I was inspired to create two Facebook groups that showcase amazing photographers along with their work. My group called, “Amazing Sunsets and Sunrises”, now has over 8,000 members. My other group a Wildlife one is rising in popularity too. We have everything from amateurs and professional photographers from every continent in the world. The success of this group inspired me to travel the world and see the view from those people's eyes. A few places I would love to take photos from would be Acadia National Park in Maine, Yellow Stone National Park, as well Australia. If your new at photo taking here's a tip I could give you, “READ and be a sponge and soak in everything you can”. I hope you enjoy my work and as always, “Admire your surroundings as you may be surprised at what you may see”. Be sure to check out more of my work below and give my page a like :)
