Second shooting is SO much more than just getting “extra” photos. 🤍

I love being able to capture the moments the bride doesn’t get to see—the quiet moments getting ready, a different angle during the ceremony, the groom’s reaction, and all the little in-between moments happening outside of her view.

It’s pretty special getting to tell the whole story of a wedding day from a perspective she may have never seen. ✨📸

Taking a little trip down memory lane today. 🤍📷

In 2017, I picked up my first camera — a little kit camera that I bought without really knowing where it would take me. The second photo is me and that camera, standing in the front yard of my childhood home. Looking back at that girl now, I don’t think she had any idea what she was starting.

Then came 2019 & 2020… when it felt like EVERYONE became a photographer. 😂 Somehow, instead of scaring me away, it made me want to figure this thing out even more. I started photographing MSU seniors, learning as I went, and even took my own college graduation photos.

From there, I wanted to learn weddings. I had no idea how to second shoot, so naturally… I walked up to another photographer at my friend’s wedding, handed him my business card, and basically said, “Call me. I want to work with you.” 😂 And he did.

That one little opportunity opened another door, and eventually I went from second shooting weddings to taking on weddings of my own.

And somewhere between the kit camera, the upgraded gear, the countless hours behind my computer, the sessions, the weddings, the mistakes, the lessons, and SO many incredible people who trusted me with their memories… I fell completely in love with photography.

The gear has changed. My editing has changed. My style has changed. My business has changed.

But the reason I picked up that camera in the first place — because I loved creating — is still the same.

I’m so grateful for every person who has believed in me, trusted me, referred me, booked me, shared my work, or simply cheered me on along the way.

Looking back, I’m pretty proud of how far that girl in the front yard has come. 🤍

And honestly? I’m even more excited about where we’re going next. ✨
