www.jbvoigt.com Flying and photography, both go together so beautifully.

Everything takes on a new perspective... even 10 feet off the ground. As a young boy, I spent hours building and flying model airplanes with my father. Starting at age 11, I cut grass after school so I could afford flying lessons on the weekends. It didn’t take long to realize that I enjoyed the view OUTSIDE the aircraft more than the flying. That’s when the photography bug hit me. Fast forward 40

years, combine a great drone and sophisticated camera... and you get a 400 foot tall mobile tripod! All of my images are shot from the vantage point of the drone. I’m an FAA Commercial rated drone pilot. My previous experience as a manned pilot lends itself well to this discipline. I’m a former Naval Officer. After graduating from Annapolis in 1982 I served the nation for 8 years. 5 of those years were spent at sea; the remainder teaching at the Naval Academy and Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI. My aerial images are all about perspective. Common landmarks and cityscapes become uncommon from the air. Most of the images are full of bright natural colors. I’m a sucker for sunrises and sunsets, sailboats, water views... and of all things... abandoned to***co barns. There’s a certain pride and peace attached to these old icons. My photography prints are for sale on my website, and I would like to invite you to purchase them at www.jbvoigt.com.

Here’s a scene I wanted to share: a weathered barn resting in a neat patchwork of cultivated fields in southern Maryland. The roof’s warm, oxidized tones sit against emerald and olive planes, while rows and a narrow lane guide the eye toward the building. A band of cloud shadow cools one side and the clear midday light sharpens contrasts, giving the view a calm, slightly nostalgic feel. The small structure makes the acreage feel generous, a quiet kind of solitude. See it and preview how it looks on your wall: https://www.jbvoigt.com/warehouse/art_print_products/default-9z0wynpfw8m

I wanted to share this quiet country scene: a weathered barn with a rusted roof sitting amid patchwork green fields, a silo and leafy trees softening the lines, and fences that guide the eye toward distant white outbuildings and low blue ridges under a pale, cloud-scattered sky. Sunlight skims the land, picking out textures in hay, paths, and worn boards, and the scattered equipment gives the scene a lived-in feel. I wanted to share this scene: a weathered red barn sitting in a sweep of summer fields, a dense band of trees in the foreground and alternating rows of crops and meadow that lead toward the horizon. The colors feel clear and decisive, from saturated greens and the faded red of the barn to the crisp blue above, and the steady light gives the whole view a calm, unhurried presence. I came across this aerial view of a horse farm near Annapolis, Maryland and it made me do a double take. The neat paddocks, green roofs, and curved drive give it a model-like clarity while the surrounding trees keep everything grounded and calm. There is a quiet order to the scene that I keep coming back to. See it here: https://www.jbvoigt.com/warehouse/art_print_products/default-vricwg5kmsc
