Sibling photos? At SCHOOL? Yup! Look at these beautiful girls - I get to watch them grow up...right in front of my camera! How lucky am I? ❤️ One of the (many) joys of building a relationship with a school, and their students and parents, is watching the children grow...knowing them by name..knowing that some are going to bring ALL the energy on picture day...and some need a little more coaxing to connect and capture who they are. I take the time to connect. It matters. I LOVE THIS JOB. I love when the kids see me out in my community - 'Hi Miss Heather!' 👋 and I love delivering images to their parents that they will treasure forever. 4 years separates these photos and I can't wait to see who these young ladies become over the next 4 years :)

It's happening! 🤗🎉 I'm officially at WPPI in Las Vegas, and will be speaking on the 3rd! I'm so honored + humbled to be presenting in the company of the portrait photography industry's finest!

Did someone say siblings? 🤗 YES! It's my favorite. As much as I love photographing individual children of all ages at school, what I love most are sibling photos: those split-second giggly expressions, a little hug, or a head on shoulder?! Looooove!
As a mom of two girls, there is nothing quite like that *perfect* image of my daughters together. Knowing how important that it is, makes the time it takes to 'get it right' so worth it! Being able to capture that magic, in a school photo, is so rewarding. Sibling connection = job done ✨ ✅.
When I became a professional photographer, I never imagined I would be a school photographer, and certainly never expected it to be my favorite genre. Nearly 15 years in, I'm glad I said YES to that first one! I am excited to show other photographers that they can delight parents and schools admin in their town, from the stage at WPPI in Las Vegas on March 3rd! I am so excited to share this news! 🥳 I'm going to be speaking alongside my industry's finest at this year's WPPI in Las Vegas on March 3rd! MAJOR thank you to GotPhoto USA for your support - AND changing the way I present + deliver school pictures to clients!
If you're a or maybe you’ve been approached about photographing a school or wonder if it’s something you should offer in your area! When I added this genre to my business, I didn't know what to expect….but 15 years into it, I'm SO glad I did!

I've been thinking and reflecting a lot recently about how school photography changed my business - here are some of my biggest takeaways:
😎 You CAN get your weekends back! School photography gives you freedom to spend weekends & evenings with YOUR family!
📸 It's a new niche in a constantly changing market! Offset the seasonality of your wedding or portrait business with a new revenue stream during ‘less peak’ times!
🙋‍♀️ Grow your portrait clientele. Parents of the children your photograph at schools become family portrait & headshot clients!
🧒 Kids! If you enjoy working with kids, you will love photographing them at school!
🏦 Revenue! Whether you photograph 1 school or many - it’s up to you to decide! As photographers we all love what we do - as professionals, we all know that running a good business is what keeps the shutter clicking 😉
🎉 Thrill your clients! No more dated and tacky school pictures! Parents will be wow’d by the quality photos that you create of their children! (And your schools will thank you for making them shine)
