The highly successful pop artist Peter Max passed away. He once did a painting from one of my portraits as a gift to one of my clients.

Among many other credits, Max was the official artist for events such as the Olympics, the Super Bowl, the World Series, the Kentucky Derby, and the Indianapolis 500.

"At dawn on this day in 1814, a 35-year-old Francis Scott Key was so amazed to see the American flag flying over Baltimore’s Fort McHenry after a vicious overnight British attack that he scribbled a poem he called The Defence of Fort M’Henry. You and I know it better as The Star-Spangled Banner. Another fun fact: Key is a graduate of St. John’s College [Annapolis] (Class of 1796)."
