I’m back to talk more about extended family photos! 🤍

They’re such a beautiful way to celebrate generations together but there are a few things you’ll definitely want to plan ahead for:

Bathrooms – Desert locations are gorgeous, but bathrooms can be tricky! I’ll suggest spots that have restrooms nearby or help you make a plan so no one’s stressed.

Parking or studio fees – Some locations have a small fee, but it’s usually worth it for the privacy, space, and clean backdrop it provides.

Walking distance – When we’ve got grandparents and little ones, comfort matters. I’ll always give you options that are easy for everyone to get to.

Blankets + benches – These simple things make a big difference! They help everyone stay cozy and close together (and give little ones a place to sit).

Outfits – Coordinating outfits can be the hardest part, but I’ve got you! I can help you choose a color palette and share examples you can send to the group so everyone knows the vibe.

Extended family sessions are a little more planning, but they’re so worth it. ❤️

Trust me when I say you will miss this. The two things that I feel like are constantly changing and growing and getting bigger with kids, are their hands and feet! Also they are super messy! The thing that so many people miss out on when they don’t book the in-home session is this. Those little toes. 👣

I don’t think we talk about this enough… extended family sessions are kind of the best-kept secret. 👀
This gallery? It’s actually just one part of a whole extended family I photographed.
When everyone is already together, dressed, and showing up for photos it just makes sense to give each family their own little mini-session too. I plan the location, posing, and flow so it’s quick but still meaningful, and each family walks away with a small gallery of their own on top of the full group photos.
Because if you’re going to make the effort to gather everyone, why not get the most value out of it? More memories, more combinations, and less stress than trying to organize separate sessions later.
So yes, extended family sessions are a gift to the grandparents… but they’re also a smart way for every individual family to get photos they love. 🤍

I’ve taken a little break from posting here, even though I’m still taking photos! My cup has been full as I’ve been soaking in more time with my family, but my heart has also felt heavy. Life is a mixture of joy and struggle, and sometimes we need both the pause and the perspective.
President Russell M. Nelson once said: “The joy we feel has little to do with the circumstances of our lives and everything to do with the focus of our lives.”
Even in the hard moments, this life is still so beautiful and precious. We create memories, and those memories become treasures we can look back on and hold close.

Anxiety has pretty much always been part of my story, and it’s taught me the value of slowing down, grounding myself, and creating calm in the chaos. That’s exactly what I bring into sessions: a relaxed, easygoing energy that helps you breathe, laugh, and enjoy the moment without stress.

Not that I had to try very hard with my sister and brother-in-law! My little nephew is already here and getting lots of love, but I had to share these beautiful photos when the roses were in bloom. 🤍

Multiple cars. Multiple group texts.
Shoes by the door, bags everywhere, and someone’s always missing their water bottle.

But somehow… it all works.

There’s something really beautiful about having all the generations together. Kids playing, teens doing their own thing but still close by, parents catching up, grandparents watching it all with quiet joy. Everyone’s in a different stage of life, but somehow it all blends into this one moment that feels both full and calm at the same time.

These are the kinds of days that don’t happen all the time, which is maybe what makes them so special. You can feel the memories being made as they happen. And later, when you look back at the photos, you’re just so glad someone thought to capture it.

Milestone photos might seem a little “extra” but the truth is, these moments only happen once.
Another year older. A new phase of life. A brave decision. A fresh start.

When you realize they shape and are part of who we are they aren’t little things at all. And those things are worth remembering in a beautiful way don’t you think? 😍
