It’s hard to put this past weekend into words, because I don’t think I realized just how much I needed it until I was there.

I hold myself to incredibly high expectations, and sometimes the weight of those expectations can feel debilitating. Being in a room full of women The Storyhood Co. | Photography Community & Education retreat who were willing to be open, honest, and meet one another exactly where they were was something really special.

I needed the slower pace. I needed space to just be, without anyone waiting for me to tend to them. I needed to be poured into for once, especially by own self.

Mel MELISSA SOTO - Florida Family & Newborn Photographer is truly a gem, but even greater than that is the space she’s created for women to show up as they are and receive the kind of support our everyday lives don’t always make room for. She is so clearly on a mission in this education space, and there’s no doubt she’s exactly where she’s meant to be.

I came home feeling more present, refreshed, and reconnected to myself. Ready to step into everything this next season holds for both me and BMP. Let’s GO!!!

I don’t think enough moms know what a Fresh 48 session actually is, or that it’s even something you can book.

Fresh 48 photography happens right in your hospital room within the first 48 hours after your baby is born. But it’s less about those perfectly wrapped portraits you’d get during a newborn session and more about documenting what those very first days!

You’ve only just met your baby. Everyone is tired, the excitement is still fresh, and you’re all taking in the fact that this little person is finally here.

It’s such a raw and tender part of your story, and it passes so quickly. By the time you’re home and settling into life with a newborn, those hospital days can already feel like a blur.

A Fresh 48 session gives you a way to hold onto what it felt like in that room when your baby was still completely brand new.

I’m not gonna lie, it’s been really hard to show up online.

But it’s absolutely not hard to show up and give you a hug even though we just met. It’s not hard to hold your baby until he falls asleep while you pick out your dress. It’s not hard to dream up a vision for your little one’s first birthday session with you. It’s not hard to listen while you pour your heart out about how hard nursing is.

Very little about this beautiful job of mine is “hard.”

But showing up online constantly is.

It sucks me into this all-consuming wave of comparison and feeling like I’m never quite measuring up. And I’m trying to wage against those particular feelings in my own heart.

So if you’re still reading this, just know that showing up for you is never the hard part. I absolutely adore that part.

Posting about it might be another story.

I’ve been offline for the last five days and coming back today feels a little weird.

My brain feels quieter. We love that!

I think I’d forgotten how much we’re constantly being told something on here. What to buy. What to wear. What we should be doing. How we should be doing it. What we need to fix, change, add, become.

And five days without all of that made me realize how nice it is to just… be a person. Weird, I know.

So I don’t really have anything to sell you today. Lol I’m showing us as Tamarah atm, the soul behind the brand.

So here’s a beautiful family I loved photographing. A morning in the studio that didn’t need to be anything more than what it was.

Maybe that’s enough for the internet today.

Some families just have a joy about them.

I’ve had so much fun this summer getting back to my roots and shooting more in-home sessions. I left this one with a full heart and a reminder that any reason is reason enough to capture your family. 🐾

Signs of a good session, when a parent looks at me, laughs, and says,
“Well… I guess the truck is coming too.” Because yes. It probably is.

I don’t really want to spend our time trying to convince your toddler to be someone they’re not. I’d much rather photograph exactly who they are right now.

One day, that truck won’t go everywhere with them. The gummy packets won’t need to be used. They’ll be a little older, a lot bigger, and this season will quietly become a memory.

Those little things don’t take away from your photos, they make them yours!
