Abington 8-9-10 All Stars finished pool play by defeating Old Forge All Stars 15-5 on Thursday at West Scranton Little League in the heat on Thursday evening. Connor Mitchell was a force on the mound and at the plate, with a team high 4 RBIs.
Abington flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on five hits to take the lead, 5-1. The biggest blow in the inning was Connor Mitchell drive that brought home two runners.
Abington scored seven runs on eight hits in the second inning. Declan Horutz singled, scoring one run, Jack Keeler singled, scoring one run, Connor Mitchell hit an inside the park home run, scoring two runs, Ford Eckenrode tripled, scoring one run, Santo Zanghi singled, scoring one run, and Mike Fogley drew a walk, scoring one run.
Abington added one run in the third after Stephen Strauch hit a sacrifice fly.
Connor Mitchell earned the win for Abington. The pitcher gave up one hit and one run (zero earned) over two innings, striking out four and walking two. Patrick Scanlon appeared in relief for Abington.
Abington tallied 19 hits in the game. Noah Troy, Rowan Walsh Drew Cognetti, Ford Eckenrode, Declan Horutz, Santo Zanghi, Connor Mitchell and Stephen Strauch each collected two hits for Abington. Abington had patience at the plate, collecting six walks. Jack Keeler and Mikey Fogley led the team with two free passes each.
