"Aurora by the Washington Monument!!! While the northern lights were tough to spot with the naked eye inside the Beltway Tuesday night, they were visible with the more sensitive lens of a camera. Dave Lyon (Insite Image) captured this EPIC shot and shared it with us on X (Twitter).

🍽️ FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS FROM THE PROS

Lighting: The Secret Ingredient

Natural Light Wins: Whenever possible, shoot near a large window with diffused daylight. Avoid harsh midday sunlight — use sheer curtains or a diffuser panel to soften shadows.

Directional Light: Light the food from the side or back-side (not the front). It enhances texture, depth, and dimension — think of light traveling across the plate.

Control Reflections: For glossy foods (soups, sauces, glazes), use a polarizing filter or adjust your angle to minimize glare.

Artificial Light Setup: If indoors or shooting at night, use a softbox or continuous LED panels with daylight bulbs (5000–5600K). Always bounce light off a white board for natural-looking diffusion.
