No posing. No direction. Just this.

Most of our favorite photos happen when nobody is paying attention to us.
That’s usually where the good stuff is.
Not in making everything look perfect. Not in stopping what’s happening so we can turn it into a photo.

Just people being themselves and the day moving along around them.
Those are the pictures we tend to come back to.
The ones where you can almost hear what was happening.

Same wedding. Same moment. Two completely different photographs.

This is one of the things we love most about photographing weddings together.

While one of us is focused on what’s happening right in front of us, the other is often watching what’s happening around it
And together these pictures tell a more complete story.

That’s really the reason there are two of us at almost every wedding we photograph. It’s not about getting twice as many photos. It’s about being able to pay attention to more of what’s happening without asking you to stop, repeat anything, or wait while we move to a different spot.

Because wedding days move quickly, and some of the best moments happen at exactly the same time.

Anji sees one thing. Pete sees another.

And you get to see both.

A few things you should know before you invite us to spend 8+ hours at your wedding:

Anji is originally from Germany. Pete is a Minnesotan who somehow ended up living all over the world.

We love traveling, good food, football, and animals. Our company is even named after our first cat, Potok—who was also the subject of one of our first argument because we both claimed she was ours.

We tease each other, see things very differently, but share a brain and one single vision on a wedding day

Relationships and stories matter to us. We want to hear how you met, meet your parents and hear the story about your grandmother.

By the end of the night, we won’t feel so much like “the photographers.”

And that’s exactly how we like it.

So yes, make sure you love our photos.

But also make sure you like us.

There’s an important difference between using a Pinterest board for wedding inspiration and asking your photographers to recreate a collection of other people’s images.

Because years from now, the pictures that matter won’t be the ones we successfully copied. But the ones that show moments that made your wedding unique.

WHY DOCUMENTARY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY?

If you’re choosing a wedding photographer, don’t just ask yourself:
Do I like these pictures?

Ask yourself:
How do I want to experience my wedding in order to get them?

Some photography styles involve a lot of direction, posing and creating moments for the camera.

There’s nothing wrong with that if that’s what you want.

But documentary photography works differently.

We’ll step in when stepping in makes the day easier. And then we’ll step back when the moment is better without us in it.

Because we don’t think you should spend your wedding day creating photographs.

You should spend it getting married, hugging people, losing track of time, crying during speeches, eating delicious food and dancing with the people you love.

We’ll take care of documenting what it felt like.

You just enjoy every minute of it.
